  • @bwbmagi ... : ) .......Donald

  • very interesting

  • @spinceara ... and it works pretty good......Donald

  • i made 1 out of a plastic rubbermaid shelves and i have a growlight and a heatlamp in it then took a coputer fan wired up to a plug wish i could of gotten one of those metal shelves that would of worked really well for multiple shelf airflow with the fan and i could of put the heat lamp in the bottom of of the shelf so the heat would of rose up and kept everything warm

  • @suicide5389 ... The wire shelves would allow for much better air flow......Donald

  • Great idea. I could put something like that in my back deck. My wife don't want more messy flats leaking on the hardwood floor. LOL!

  • @swanz199 ...Make sure it's secure cause the wind will blow it over.......Donald

  • hiya donald.

  • Very nice vidio awesome

  • @TheWholefoodfarmacy ...He did a good job with it.....Donald

  • Donald... Does this add heat to the inside of the greenhouse? Thanks for the video... Caleb

  • @caholaway ...When placed in the sun it does get warm inside. If the temps start getting over 60 degrees then it's time to open the back or it'll get too hot inside.....Donald

  • Does this need to be kept in the sunlight to work right?

  • @crdennis123 ...Yes, unless you have grow lights.......Donald

  • hi.....Donald

  • @MrFerretlover ...hello

  • brilliant idea, thanks!

  • @CardboardFurniture ...works pretty well......Donald

  • Great, loved it

  • @TheMagicPuppies ...got my little tomatoes and peppers growing in mine now.....Donald

  • if you need a shelving unit go behind walmart and usually the put old ones out for garbage when they get new ones

  • @loku1125 ... sounds like a plan.......Donald

  • @webcajun ya the one day i was bored so i was riding my bike by walmart and i seen like 20 shelves

  • @loku1125

most of the shelving they roll behind the back in Texas belongs to powel plant farms out of troup texas s so please ask first before getting any of them yaw

  • @cajunnanintx i know i i am just helping out people you should always ask if your not sure of something thats what i always do

  • The disclaimer is awesome

  • Thanks for the great information. I'll be ready to start my seedlings much earlier than usual. First I have to shop around for some shelves.

  • @buddybleau ... check with Lowes.......Donald

  • @buddybleau Craigslist.

  • Jeff, this is brilliant, not to mention hilarious! It's a really good idea and presented in such an approachable way. I think I can do it! Thank you so much.

  • @OliviaBreadhouse ... let us know how it works out for you......Donald

  • this is a really great idea~!!!

  • @kairin ... works very well to start seeds when it's cold......Donald

  • Good idea. I'll be using this one for the tool box.

  • @wickedweekend ... thanks.......... Donald

  • This is genius and simple.Kept me laughing all the way thru. Kudos!!

  • He did a real fine job........ Donald

  • Now if only I could convince jeff to come to Montana to build one for me..:)

  • Offer him the right beverage and he'll be on his way....... Donald

  • Cool

  • thanks!

  • whats the temperture in the greenhouse when its cold like that outside/?

  • That was up in KY so I couldn't say. Down here in Louisiana I had to actually open the back up cause it was getting too hot inside......... Donald

  • hilarious intro =D

  • Jeff did a good job on that one........ Donald

  • This is so wonderful! Now all I need is a boot tray big enough for under my shelving unit and I can place my plants in the basement and have salad all year round! This also means I can keep my Plumeria longer then October. Thanks!

  • Glad we could help....... Donald

  • what happend to donald?

  • That was Jeff, my twin up in KY...... Donald

  • Pretty cool.

Now - does it work? Did you keep it in your shop, and if so, how did the plants get light?

Is there a part two, showing how it worked.

    I kinda like your project!

  • It does stay in the south facing door so it gets sunlight all the time. I started all my seedlings in it and it does work very well. It does need ventilation or it will get too hot inside on those warmer days. All it takes is some shelves and a little clear plastic. If you're in a real cold climate, a small electric heater at night works well to keep the temps up....... Donald

  • Thanks Dude.

By the way - Where did ya get the shelving unit?

  • Lowe's...... Donald

  • Funny guy. And good explanation along with the boyou gardner's video, too. Thanks.

  • Jeff says "you're welcome" and me too...... Donald

  • i love watching your video,s but i do prefer donald !!!

  • I purchased my shelving units at Sam's Club. $88.00 each with wheels.

  • hmmmm looking at Lowes online ...found your shelving unit but it's 18"x48"x74" no wheels...no other shelf width offered...$86.97 Does that sound right?

  • The price sounds about right. A 5 shelf unit with 24 inch shelves would hold 20 flats vs. the 18 inch model which holds 10. You could put 20 on there but you will have problems with bottom watering. Flats have to sit flat if that makes any sense. Wheels are a necessary option...... Donald

  • Thks but they dont have a 24" width option...just 18" and I dont see a wheel option anywhere ? Wheels are a must ! Thats for sure ! Maybe there is a Lowes in Topeka ? If so, its 2 hrs east of us & maybe we can get over there sometime Thks Donald

  • Outstanding !!! You guys are the best !!!

  • Hi can you guys tell me where i can buy some of those shelving units? What kind of stores carry them? Thks !

  • Got mine from Lowe's. Get the unit that has 24 inch deep shelves so your flats will fit better...... Donald

  • OK thanks a bunch Donald !!! Will see if they ship to rural KS...

  • She is pretty and functional... and I like it. Thanks I will work on it today... I have all the material in my home.... Thank you so much for the great idea.

  • Elevating the temperature sure made a big difference for me. Before coming up with the idea I was considering building a small green house next to the shop. Glad I tried this first...... Donald

  • Hello from the Bologna Ring Ranch.

    Glad yall like the video.

I think Webcajun might just be (my brother from another mother).

    Thanks Bayou Gardener!

  • Hey (brother from another mother) Jeff, it's about time you got on here. When can we expect the next Bologna Ring Ranch Video? ...... Donald

  • Hahaha! Dehydration wouldnt be good!

    Great presentation/demonstration!

  • Jeff thanks you.

  • looks great!

  • I think he did a good job on it also.

  • i didnt think it ever snowed in the bayou. stay warm guys

its a lot colder than that up here in the frozen cornfield we call indiana.

  • This video was sent to me by a buddy from Kentucky showing his finished project. It came out so good I had to pass it on ...... Donald

  • oh , im sorry donald. i didnt pay attention enough i guess

  • Jeff's shop looks so much like mine I can see how people would think I made the video.

  • ❤❤❤❤❤

  • I think he explained the construction very well. The credit is all his.

  • Excuse me what do you call that cart your using?

  • They will probably be listed as Wire Shelving Units.

  • Wow, that was amazing! YOu would think there would be a lot a problems with the translation between a Cajun and a hillbilly!!! LOL Your words not mine! :) Good job!! But can he plow a strait row?

  • Great minds have a way of communicating. LOL ... He has a Kubota tractor, a brand new tiller and row hippers so this spring well have to put him to the "row drawing" test. But I've discovered that vegetable plants don"t know the difference between a straight row and a crooked one so as they say "its all good". Glad they're like that because my rows don't always come out straight ...... Donald

  • wow! mmmmmmmmm sounds like you have a twin out there.

  • Well we're both good old southern boys so I guess we do sound a lot alike even though we live hundreds of miles apart. Kentucky vs Louisiana ...... Donald

  • Ouch! I meant to say that Donald is set up right for the '09 planting season.

    Sorry about the typo!

    John

  • Jeff's shop looks a lot like mine, it would be easy to mistake where this video was made. I still have my original "quick fix" design Jeff however took the time to construct his right. Wish he lived a few hundred miles closer, I'd put him to work. LOL ...... Donald

  • donald, is this your son? he is talking just like you.

  • Although we do think a lot alike Jeff is not my son. Hes a friend from Kentucky who constructed his own mini green house ...... Donald

  • awesome vid! Beer!

  • Beer is a requirement for any project of this magnitude ...... Donald
