@tyeson85 the ecoboost would also eat twice the amount of fuel and wouldnt last even half as long even if that engine was in a 3/4 ton or larger truck that v6 is an awsome engine but cant compare to a diesel when hauling something
@MrNelsonb2 well ya i get what your sayn' i agree also, i just was sayn' the ecoboost can pull big big weight which is awesome for the engine that it is, It does pull as much weight as the diesel engines though....I know that because I work on them, but i do get what your sayn a diesel engine does last a LONG time, and is naturaly stronger, cuz well lets face it thats what diesles were built to do
@jesjohnsoncummins Ever wonder how someone can geuss how much a trailer weighs by the sound of your truck? And 2500 / 3000 pounds....How the hell would you tell the difference in 500 pounds? lol
Hell a full tank of fuel is that much, Let alone if you have 110gal tank in ur bed also "aux tank of course"
I couldnt imagine trying to do this in a stock 12v or 24v prob be a shitty pull if your gunna get a truck and jsut tow with it stock id try to find a 7.3 powerstroke but if oyur looking for making power get a sec gen 12v ...the only good part arbout a dodge is the cummins the rest is all shit made....almost dont rebuilding a whole truck fromt he gorund up and the only thing i didnt touch was the engine...besides injectors and such
@bobwaters420 well actaully its a pretty heavy built 26 ft horse trailer and it is loaded about four feet deep with gravel i dont know if you have ever hauled gravel but its really heavy, i weghed the truck and trailer on DOT scales before loaiding and it came out to 14500 after loading it was right at 30000 so the trailer is not quite 16k, so its 15500 sorry.
@jesjohnsoncummins Not saying you are like lying or anything, but what model horse trailer is it? I dont know of any that are capable of hauling 16,000 lbs, and if thats what you were really hauling with a light duty pick up truck, why werent you worried about it being able to stop and being safe, as the truck is far too light to safely control that load if something went wrong. To safely tow that, youd have to have at least 2000 some lbs of tongue weight on the back of the truck.
@kevintomb I really dont know what brand or model of trailer it is its my dads old gooseneck stock trailer its 26ft long it has triple axles and is built pretty heavy the axles are 7000Lb rated axles so with three that makes 21000, i think it will handle 16000 no problem, and the truck has a towing weight rating of 15000 for a fifth wheel, so i guess 1000 over weight could be a problem but i really doubt it.
@everynameistaken567 well actually peek torque is around 1400 but if you lug it that much your boost goes through the roof and your EGTs max out pretty quick
@everynameistaken567 EGT would've went through the roof doing that. Its also generally not recommended to lug a NV4500HD transmission in 5th, they've been known to back the nut off the gear. A 4500 behind a Cummins is particularly known to do it due to lots of torque at low rpm.
its a good size load. my dad pulled 15 tons of railroad off the train tracks in 50 foot sections. gotta love 4wd low lock. he eventually cut it into two foot sections and ran all 15 tons on his 22 ft dovetail. that was a fun day. Cummins. (:
@youdragon yup. competition sled pullers max at 6k. it's the ignition system mostly. diesels are compression ignited and have trouble revving past 5k with lots of mods. sock internals are good in a cummins till about 4k before you start breaking stuff. the pistons are really heavy lol. since the 359 cubic inches is split up between only 6 pistons.
@jesjohnsoncummins what model exactly? mine is trashed (stock single disk with 200k) and it slips going up mellow hills with 6k behind it. i'm torn between a south bend dd and a valair dd. how do you like it? driving impressions?
@jt4265 i dont remember the model for sure its the cheapest dd from southbend. They are a little wierd to get used to drivin because the clutch applies sooner and a lot harder. It has never slipped at all with a heavy load or hot rodding. I have had southbends in all my trucks and i Like them. The DD is kinda wierd but its tough.
@The1WhoSMBTY Just drove through there with a 2500HD gasser pulling a horse and trailer, I was at 4k the entire time barely going. I traded the chevy in the next day for a 6.7 cummins.
@sowawoodenboats well I did compare them since the 2500HD gasser should be able to pull a trailer like that with ease. My cummins pulled my 26ft camper into a head wind and I got 14-15 mpg, I have gotten almost 23 mph without towing anything. I also had both trucks tuned. The cummins has an XRT with supporting mods, The 6.0 had a blackbear tune and cat back exhaust. The gasser was just a dog period.
ya i like the quadzilla i had an edge juice on it and it fried the computer so i put a banks big hoss on it next but it didnt give it as much power so i tried the quadzilla and really like it and have had no problems
it has a quadzilla chip, 100hp injesctors dual 4" exhaust a K&Nf and a cfm plus power elbow and electric fans i only had the chip on the second setting cuz the engine kept getting hot if i hammered on it to much
it wasnt the egt's getting hot it was staying around 1100 it was the jwt temp getting hot and i believe the quadzilla adrenaline box is the largest chip you can get for that year cummins

I like your truck...and I want your sandwich.
