@impolitikful I was 12 years old at the time, however in addition to giving me exercises to practice scales, he also shared his insight about lyrical soloing, and how to practice. It is definitely worth taking a lesson with him. Id love to take another, now that I have a stronger foundation in jazz.

Holy Shit I own that same guitar. I payed $800.00 for it in 1980. I freind of mine got one used same time for $350.00. They sell on ebay for about $1500.00. Proof you don't need a high end guitar to get a great sound. It is the player and the amp.

i took a lesson w him last week in nyc and saw him 2x, he is the real deal... complex rythmic and harmonic stuff but no bs only pure music and super dymanic. to see him with ari honeig will leave your jaw on the ground. and he plays the fuck out of a ballad... he is the next jazz guitar leader of the world!

Its a Vintage Gibson Howard Roberts Signature guitar, Epiphone(then owend by Gibson) also made it at some point. Gibson still produce it but its a different design now.
