My guess would either be different weight 115gr vs. 124gr or perhaps 147gr. which really is unlikely, or perhaps on the faster rate of fire, they were using sub-gun ammo deliberately loaded hot to provide an elevated rate of fire.

The difference in cyclic rate might be possibly from a few factors. Ammunition used, and also there are a couple major conversion methods used on an UZI. There is the registered bolt, and the registered receiver conversions that were offered before 1986. The bolt conversion does not require modification to the receiver, and has a lighter bolt from the slot cut out and as such the cyclic is higher. People also put in different size buffers to adjust the cyclic rate which is another possibility.

how do u obtain fully automatic firearms? do you have to know the right people or do u have to have the money for some kind of permits or both. i know if youre involved with LE u can have them. oh and is there some kind registered gun collector law that lets u have them

KoolGTHC: You have to have a class 3 firearms license which you would have to apply for vie the ATF. There is alot of red tape to get one so its easier to just buy semi autos, they are more accurate and they will fire as fast as you can pull the trigger.

The process of getting a FA firearm is not bad. First you find one you want at your class 3 dealer or online and pay for it. You fill out a form that includes the details of the firearm and your local Sheriff must sign off on it. You send that form, 2 passport photos, one other form that requires 2 signatures saying you live in the US, two finger print cards, and a check for the $200 tax to the ATF. Usually takes about 1-2 months to come back approved then you can take your MG home.

You have to have a copy of that approved form with you when you take your gun out to shoot. You do not need any kind of license or pay any additional taxes after that. FA guns are legal most most states (36 or 37) so you need to make sure you can have it in your state. You also cannot have a criminal record, obviously.

I tried an Uzi just like this one at a range once. The ROF felt inconsistent, firing a bit slowly at first, and then speeding up. I think this has to do with the open bolt design, and I imagine I probably wasn't holding it right.

Also, the grip safeties on those things are pretty touchy. If you don't keep them down, the gun just gives up on you in mid-fire.

Damn fine guns though. Very solid and well-built.
