Newt Gingrich ripped Wallace & the press corp a new one in the best thing I've ever seen in my 49 years. The question about Newt's campaign minutia was unimportant compared to the great ideas Newt offers. It was an unnecessary, gotcha question immaterial since Newt was standing there, in the race, not having quit. Wallace could have asked an opposite question if he was truly interested in Newt's campaign; does you still running after the resignation of some of your staff show your greatness?

Wallace did a bad job of responding to Gingrich, so I guess Gingrich succeeded in both getting his goat and deflecting the question. Wallace should have pointed out that it's a legit question to ask why anybody should believe he can run the executive branch of the United States government when he can't even manage his own campaign staff, or keep them from quitting en masse because they think he's irresponsible and not serious.

I think many of the questions asked of Sarah Palin in 2008 were "gotcha questions" in that they attempt to question one's intelligence instead of seeking out real answers to questions people want to know about. Here, these were relevant questions and Newt was clearly feigning outrage in an attempt to score political points and deflect valid criticism from his campaign that's been in free fall since the start.

I don't think Sarah Palin was asked any gotcha questions. Asking you what newspapers you read only becomes a gotcha question if you haven't read any. To anybody else it's a chance to showcase your ideological preferences. Asking you what Supreme Court decisions you disagree with is only a gotcha if you can't name a single one, not even Dred Scott or Roe v Wade. To anybody else it's an opportunity to spout talking points and make yourself look intelligent.

@TrollBuster9090 I agree regarding the magazines, but I disagree regarding the supreme court decision question. I went to law school and I can think of a few by name which I'm strongly against. Palin actually mentioned Roe v. Wade and the question was "what other supreme court decisions do you disagree with?" I would have said Kelo v. City of New London, but Palin's not a lawyer. Obama, a con law professor was never asked that. Palin's not smart, but some of those questions weren't fair.
