You guys have Really improved! He is Beautiful every Ugly Duckling turns into the most beautiful swans :)
"Always believe in your heart and mind that Nothing will stop you ! Believe there are No Limits ! and when in doubt just think about all your horse has done for you and you will Always improve. Your Horse or Pony would stop at nothing for you, even if sometimes you think he's bucking or rearing to get you off when really he's Testing you."
Firstly, your horse is stunning! Secondly, its given me the hope that my hard work will eventually pay off with my new boy, Raven. Although hes 16yrs old, hes had very little schooling, so im literally having to treat him like a baby...but slowly, we're gettin there! we WILL be ready for next years show season...i hope :P hes such a quick learner tho...will do anything for a bit of apple ;) and finally, thanks for the insperation. xx
This is a wonderful video. I have a very similar story to this, just over a year ago I switched trainers and the new one wanted me to lease a new horse for the spring show season but then we proved her wrong. Now she thinks that we could at least do training level eventing because my horse is so brave.
Love this video, gives me hope as I progress on my thoroughbred gelding who spent over 6 years at the track and is now schooling over 3ft. fences! He would not even go over a crossrail when I got him and was 200 lbs. underweight. Mango's! hehe
Ressie... I am sooooo proud of you and tiny!!! I never knew yall before what the amazing pair i see now! This inspires me all the time.. Tiny is just amazing and I can't wait to see how far yall go!
This has inspired me to rescue a horse from AC4H.com...he arrived today. This is an amazing video and i think i will cry! Congrats on not giving up, I wont with Ollie (the horse i rescued)
@xxSpiritxxx CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so glad you went for an AC4H rescue!! :D That's where I plan to get my future prospects from. Good luck with Ollie!
OMG!!! Peaches, you're going to make me cry!!! No offense but he was not a pretty horse....in any way. But DAMN! What a difference, that's amazing!!! I'm pretty sure you proved all those peoples' assumptions wrong. You did a great job with him and make me want to do the same. I've been thinking about training a horse but have been looking at fancier, type-y projects. Now I see that I clearly dont need one of those. Thanks for teaching me anything's possible:) And give Tiny a hug for me!
@appielover95 Haha, thank you! There really was NOTHING attractive about him, I can say he did have a nice trot, but the pictures I took of him when I first got him show it much better than the video. Poor boy fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. But he shaped up very nicely. Even ugly ducklings can become swans with a little elbow grease though, and they're cheaper :)
Gotta love them delicious pineapples! Your an inspiration to me. I know this rescue horse that I want to buy and even if some people think that hes not worth it he is to me and thats all that matters. Unfortunately I dont know if I can aford to buy him though. He deserves a forever home and I want to teach him that he can trust me. NO RESCUE HORSE IS WORTHLESS
i'm not big on inspirational stuff like this, but you did absolute wonders on that horse. great, great job. you put in a lot of work and it really paid off. you deserve it!
Cantaloupe. ;) This video made me tear up! I cannot believe that's the same horse in the beginning of the video and at the end! And let's not forget how much YOU have advanced as a rider! Amazing.
Wow - very powerful. My horse was 17 when I started working with him and he had a lot of "issues" - everyone thought I was nuts (first horse and had been away from riding for 20+ years), but I would not change the bumps, bruises, tears, sleepless nights, or depleted bank account for anything. I agree 100 percent with this: "I'd rather learn from the frustrations I've conquered with my backyard horse than "learn" on a schoolmaster any day :)"
Oranges. I really love this. I own a 14.3h, 14 year old, Arabian gelding named Jay. I can remember the days where I was in tears and I just wanted to dismount and give up. Luckily, my friend who rides with me wouldn't let me. When my boyfriend broke up with me, I went to the barn the day after, and it was like Jay understood what had happened and gave me one of the best rides I've ever had and one I won't forget. There is no doubt in my mind that my little horse kept me going some days. <3

Love them apples!! I love that you're showing that you CAN make a horse a good riding horse! How much training have you had? Too many try this & end up making it worse for the horse because they don't understand how much PROPER work it takes. People want to take too many short cuts... I wish there were more people out there like you. Great job showing the LONG progression! What's the time frame shown here? There are SO many horses that need this to ensure their future well-being! Thank you!
@ItsNotAboutTheHorses My mom worked with me a whole lot throughout the years, otherwise I've had lessons here and there and clinics when I can. Thankfully I had someone on the ground to guide me thru the yrs. It did take a while, 5-6 years from the beginning-end of the video. It took a while due to the fact that we were both learning but it was an invaluable experience. I'd rather learn from the frustrations I've conquered with my backyard horse than "learn" on a schoolmaster any day :) Thanks!!
Wow. Phenominal job. I hope I can be as brave as you when it comes to my own critics (especially myself, I really am my own worst critic). Your story is really and truly inspirational! What region are you in?
What a BEAUTIFUL touching video!!!! :-D I just love seeing stories of beating the odds and showing other nay sayers how wrong they are! <3 I am living a similar story with my mare who Events as well and hope it turns out just the same way! Did you rescue him or was he an inexperienced purchase you trained into your gorgeous Eventer? :)
@StefB28 He was both, he was in a feedlot and knew pretty much nothing when I got him, 3 1/2 yrs old. In a week they were going to have an auction, and we all know who shows up to auctions... so we took him home that day!
This video is SO inspirational for me. I've been having so many problems with my mare I almost decided to either retire her or go ahead and sell her and then I saw this video and it made me change my mind..seeing this came at a great time. You seem so patient throughout the process and I just love the way the video represents your progress. I, too get tears in my eyes every time I watch it. I will add to my favorites for those times I become frustrated. Congratulations!
Wow...someone posted this on my FB group "Off Breeds Dressage Horses"..this is perfect for our group even though so much of it is jumping, and your horse looked so lovely in the dressage footage..so muscled and the final jumping I was crying at the end!! YOU and YOUR TINY are an inspiration and what Pony club is all about and what riding SHOULD be about..everywhere. thank you.
This is absolutely stunning. THIS is what I love seeing in the horse world. It's this determination to stick with something that isn't perfect, and making it perfect.
He is an absolutely beautiful jumper, and you have done an incredible job with him. Major kudos for you. I can't wait to see more of you two.
I want to say not only is it inspirational but follows the same lines that I was told w/ my hunter. I have had him since he was 1 and I was told he would never do what I wanted him to do since he was lanky. Well we proved them wrong and are continuing to do so. As he is 7 now! I have a paint filly I am being told she will never make it & at 2 she is proving them wrong. This just makes me want to keep pushing and not give up on her! Thank you so much for sharing! They all deserved many Apples!!
I actually saw this video on tumbr today. i have never seen a more beautiful video, by the first thirty second tears were in my eyes and when it ended i was full out sobbing. i don't think there ever could be a more perfect story you two are SO inspirational. this video touched my heart in ways no other video ever could. so i wanna thank your for making this perfect video . i'm going to be watching for you in the Olympics !
aw! this is so sweet! he is obviously the apple of your eye! ;) i have one that i want to kill half the time....he's so sweet and everyone loves the way he jumps...but his dressage sucks (eventing!). hopefully things will work out for us too...
wonderful editing! wonderful riding, wonderful story, you are talented in many ways! Inspirational video that should be shown to many many frustrated riders everywhere! Love your music choice.
Peaches!! Yakima Peaches, in fact... best of the season, to be savour and adored. Enjoy this wonderful time together on the planet and never give up!!!
what a touching and well done video. your experience is gorgeous and inspiring and the video completely brought it to life. to feel something and convey it to others isn't easy.
cheers to you for sticking it out with tiny, your relationship is obvious and it's the stuff of movies where the girl and the horse that isn't the fanciest come through and show everyone what they're made of. i'm so touched, it made me cry.
thanks for the inspiration! (my horse loves tart green APPLES! ;)
LOVED THIS! I have a horse with a similar story. He was a starvation case and no one thought he would amount to anything. They were so wrong. He is retired now and will always be the horse of my heart. Thanks for posting this. It made me cry happy tears.
i had a horse named the king elvis that was rescued from slaughter that i taught to jump and do barrels and i had some of the best times of my life with that horse he was a rescue horse and he was also abused the right side of his face his cheek bone was gone and he had nerve damage in his lip so it hanged down but he was beautiful to me he died in march he was really old if you goto my page you can see the video i made about him and my 2 new horses
Apple for the teacher (you)! Great job! You're obviously a gifted rider and trainer who has learned a great deal including love and perseverance with this horse. I can't imagine what you'll do when you have the opportunity to start a young horse without physical issues to deal with and can move on with only the normal challenges--maybe we'll see you in the Olympics!
@Damascada I can hope and dream and pray that one day I'll make it to the Olympics, that's for sure!! Maybe I'll catch my break one of these days :) Thank you :)
I'm sorry you had such short sighted trainers. Too often the desire for quick money gets in the way when what the owner is really looking for is guidance with training the horse they love. Always follow your heart and you will be happy even though the goal you set may take longer. My horses get rose hips fresh off the bush. They taste like plums!
Thank you for sharing your experience with Tiny. Very inspiring! It's amazing what you have achieved with love, dedication, and lots of hard work. So glad to hear of you work in the area of dressage, too. He deserves and *apple* ! ;)
OMG, OMG, OMG............I love it ! ! ! ...........Strawberries forever ! ! ! LOL I read every single word. And I hung on each one....What beautiful spirits you both are, and I am touched to the core of my being ! ! !
Beautiful! Thank you for letting us see your commitment to Tiny. He couldn't ask for better! And you got back every bit of what you put into him. I urge all to support S1176 in Washington DC. Slaughter is inhumane. Be kind: euthanize.
I never comment either. I LOVED this video because you guys never gave up on each other! How old was Tiny when you got him? I know so many horses that all they need is time, time to grow and proper training so they can learn how to move. So many others are just dumped or abandoned, and keep passing from owner to owner. VERY INSPIRING AND TOUCHING!
Awww- what a sweet video! I'm a Western rider, but i can SO relate to not giving up! My little mare- all 14 hands of her- has turned into an awesome playday horse over the past 5 years of training and persistence. Not bad for a crossbred little gaited horse. Never thought she'd be more than just a trail rider, but with hard work and lots of practice she is awesome- in the arena, on trails AND working cows! My baby deserves a PEAR for just being awesome ;-)
I just love stories like this! Thanks so much for sharing, you moved me to tears. I had a rough start with a mare of mine and everyone told me to sell her, and I never did, through a broken arm and everything. I just couldn't. She's 16 now and I'll never let her go. Your horse is beautiful, he obviously has a great spirit and so do you for sticking with him.
I have to tell you that I, too, needed this:) A friend shared this with me on fb -- I have a Gelding that I've been told is "isn't pretty enough", "not good enough", "doesn't have what it takes to play with the big guys" and so on... but he stole my heart when I bought him and is part of our family. He has a heart of gold, and I know he gives 200% of everything he's got... God bless you:))
How many times do we think that our horse will never make it to that next level? And how much hope did your video give us?! LOVE IT! You both deserve a big juicy APPLE!
I never comment on anything... actually I think the last time I commented was back in early 00's, and it was on a friend's video. But, my friend shared this on FB, and I had to comment. First, this is VERY VERY well put together! I enjoyed watching it... not once did I feel like my time was wasted. Second, I love the emotion behind this and the lesson it brings out. So very true!! And third, you've done an amazing job with your horse, and he's absolutely beautiful!!!! Great job!! =)
@Hunterjumper07 Btw, I didn't have room in my last comment to mention the info you posted (and I forgot after a while of typing that out.. lol!)... So, here's a fruit for you: Mango.
Apple. This is really amazing to see, I know exactly how you feel when someone says your horse can never progress past a certain point. Before I owned her, my horse fell out of a trailer and had all of her joins around the fetlock area exposed, you wouldn't believe how many people doubted me when I bought her and moved her to a hunter jumper barn to start training. It's been a year and from people saying we'll never be able to do poles she's going strong at the 2'3" and absolutely loving it.
This had me bawling. Yes, every horse, dog and cat deserves a second chance! Without you he might have ended up on someone's dinner plate, and instead he's a shining example of what time, love and patience can achieve.
I have a similar horse - a paint also - who had similar beginnings and then became a fantastic novice eventer before a career-ending injury. But like Tiny, he went from a horse people wondered why I brought to shows to a showstopper. Thanks for sharing this lovely story.
Mango. This video is perfect. It is the exact same situation I have with my Breeding Stock Paint. I have been told numerous times that he will never excel at anything, but will be "good enough". Except, I've had enough trainers instill in me the thought that "good enough" is not good enough. I have wanted to transition to Dressage and Showjumping with him from pleasure, and have been told not to very often. Your video gives me hope, and "Warzy" and I will be there someday. Thank you!!
and I bawled my eyes out the entire time. I'm away at school which does not allow me to see him nearly as often as I would like, and puts a hold on showing or maintaining a consistent in-shape-ness to continue to progress even during the summer. Thank you so much. I am now thoroughly renewed in my faith that Warzy and I can do achieve all that I hope to do, and that he is so much more athletic than I sometimes even believe he is!
This video brought tears to my eyes. My horse, Fable, and I started as an inside out hunter/llama mix... We got the same comments "you need a different horse, your horse can't pass second level, you can't do this, you can't do that..." bla bla bla... But with hard work and determination we are competing at 4th level dressage and schooling higher. Keep up the great work! As you know, the sky's the limit!
Banana! :) This is amazing, and I am so inspired to never ever give up on my horse! He's a 12 year old thoroughbred, he was a racehorse in his early years and a barrel racer until I bought him a few weeks ago. I was told he'd never be able to jump or do any Pony Club stuff. But in a matter of days, he's not trying to run, he trots poles and I've lunged him over 2' jumps. He tries for me. I love him to death. I do believe that he and I can go to the top together! And this video proves it! :D
WOW ! just wow that is amazing! I am the same way with my horse everyone told me to send her to e meat sale she was a useless horse but I beg to differ. Havent gotten as far as we like but we never stop trying! Thank you for inspiring me!
There's no such thing as a bad apple! The video and your story are so inspirational. It's true that the special horses have "try" deep within them and that desire to please their person is more important than athletic ability and breeding. Tiny is a shining example of that. Good luck to both of you, I am sure more success is just around the corner for both of you.
That was so apples!!! I will never give up, I never was a person to give up and if people tell me that something is impossible to do I will try anyway...
What a beautiful video! And what a beautiful story! There is nothing on earth as wonderful as being truly loved by a horse. Thank you for sharing your journey, and may you continue to prove 'em wrong! :)
This reminds me SO much of my Paint :-) Everyone says he'll never be able to compete higher then first level but we are destine to prove them wrong :-)
What a wonderful video! I know all about struggling with a horse that isn't exactly born to be a superstar but has the heart of a hero. I had a QH who wasn't the prettiest or a particularly good mover, but he tried his best for me and we did more then anyone ever thought we could.
You go girl! Keep defying those odds with your pony! Tiny looks to be an absolute peach!
This video was exactly what I needed. I have a quarter horse, and my mom doubts I'll be a able to progress any farther than local shows because he's not a top horse. But I can't give up, because I refuse to live the rest of my life in regret. I know he can do it. So many trainers have told me he's just a horse, but he'll do anything for me and I'll do anything for him.
I'm weeping, that was great. It was wonderful watching him transform into a fancy eventer. Quarter Horses are my love, they really can do it all. You're lucky to have each other.
oh man! your paint jumps sooo well! Reminds me a lot of my paint pony! Do you do training level? You two are awesome! I can really tell how much he's taught you throughout your journey!(:
What a beautiful and inspirational video! Is this a registered Paint Horse? I work for APHA and we'd love to post this video to our FB page (whether the horse is registered or not). In case he is, we'd like to name him, and you, with your permission.
now that horse is part of an equestrian team with my friend in the high school, and she is cantering her. everyday they beat the odds! her eye sight is gone, but her heart is wide open and my friend can even get her to trailer! it is amazing what they can accomplish. the horse will never jump, but she steals the hearts of everyone she meets
this reminds me of my friend and her horse! She got a TB that was 20 from a horse rescue. this horse had uvitis but was said to be in resession. She was 50% blind when my friend got her. We knew that she could flair. which she did. Big time. The uvitis has claimed her eye sight, and the vet told my friend to put her down. She was never going to be ridden again, show, or be happy. Well that day the horse had a change in her health and she told my friend it was not her time to go.
Oh my gosh....I have tears in my eyes! I relate to so much of what you have gone through. This weekend after a rough day x-ctry, I was feeling very defeated and considering giving up but my little red mare tried again for me. I am grateful for all she does for me, despite her challenges, she tries. She's one of the best things in my life. I'm a riding coach and will absolutely be sharing this on my Facebook page. Thank you so much for creating this! Love it and your beautiful horse:) KIWI;)
i'm glad you didn't give up. you look just peachy ;) you also seem very comfortable on him, and i compliment you on that. you really love him. dont ever give up if something goes wrong
Your story reminds me a lot of my pony. He wasgiven to his owner (I only leased him) for free because he failed as a school pony (he'd grab the bit, throw his head up, & bolt) so all he did was sit around in a field. She brought hm home, put a martingale and a bitless bridle on, and used him as a trail horse. When I started riding him, he walked, he ran, and he sat in a field. By the time I left, he could successfully d both dressage& h/j, andhad even taught lessons. Best pony ever.
Bananas!! Thank you for posting this. I've been going through a really rough time with my mare. I've thought about selling her multiple times because I didn't think I had what it would take to get her through her issues. But I have kept trying and we've progressed tremendously. We still have an awful long way to go. But I love that horse more than she could ever possibly know...I love seeing other people out there that truly love their horses :)
Anyone not feeling this is just having sour GRAPES!
Bravo. What a wonderful job you did with him.... you believed in him and he really bloomed under your care and training. Beautiful. No one should ever underestimate the bond and depth of relationship we can have with a horse.
raspberries to all the trainers who say a horse that is your own special horse is not good enough , buy another better !!! I also have been told that same thing and I am not giving up either. Your video is an inspiration . Good job !
Inspiring to see there are still true horsemen in the world. It is so much more rewarding to create a swan from an ugly duckling than to just sit there and push the buttons. It saddens me greatly to see young riders on made horses all the time. Few know the trials annd tribulations creating a partner to share experiences with. WELL DONE!!! (kiwi)
Beautiful, reminds me very much of my own two geldings. I too was told they would never amount to much. Your handsome 'orange' guy is obviously one heck of a horse!
Thanks so much for sharing your story, the vid made me cry :) There was a time i was too scared to even get on my rescue horse, he had a bucking problem due to discomfort. Now ive had him 2 yrs and cant wait to ride, and we have such a great bond that even if i coulnt ride it wouldnt matter, he follows me around just like Tiny followed you! <3 Like the song said were lucky to love something that loves us back, even if they doid start out as a bit of a *banana* Congrats on your success!! :)
Oh wow. If it weren't for the matching spots one might guess these two were the same beast. Amazing to see not his his transformation but I dare say yours as well! Proof that there are gems to be polished all around us. The *cherry* on top of this story for me is I have a kind, willing, 4yo OTTB who is my new partner and I believe in the years to come his transformation will be just as magical. Thanks for this video and message, I have tears in my eyes!
Thank you for creating this video. I had tears flowing down my cheeks as I watched this. As a new rider and an owner of a mini/pony cross who just happens to be a paint who would do anything for a carrot:). This gives me hope that I can teach my little one how to drive.
Wonderful video. My daughter has a rescue horse, also a paint. Last year judges snubbed him in the hunter ring, until the equitation over fences. Then the judge couldn't resist him and he and my daughter came away with a first place in a double A rated show. Brady loves my daughter, and my daughter adores him. And, really, that's all that matters. Oh, and Brady loves apples, if you cut them up for him :)
My mare is my "Tiny". A lowly standardbred that can't do anything but turn apples and hay into manure. 6years ago our journey began with a year lay up with a fractured tibia. Now she is knocking down the breed myths one by one and showing all those that doubted her, including myself, she is not s useless, ugly jughead. She is a star. And proved her point when she finally won the sporthorse in hand class that had been evading us for almost two show season. Thank you for your inspiring story
I loved this video. I just finished the first year of my journey with my horse that had no muscle and bad feet and couldn't jump more than cross rails and scared her owner. She's just moved up to Novice. Good luck on the rest of your journey! Oh, and apples are her favorite.
This is a most incredible video... I do not own a horse, but I love them, most of all, I love your love for him...My heart bursts from the love I can see in this video...I have dogs and will keep you in my mind for training. Please give Tiny an apple and some sugar lumps for me, and tell him I am so proud, no matter what the result, of that love... and you are an inspirational person...Thank you for sharing this!
Truly inspirational to see you with Tiny, the apple of your eye. ;-) I'm not a rider, but I do dog agility, and I've heard similar comments directed at people about their dogs. You're so right to value Tiny's heart and his commitment to and love for you. Bravo!
You guys have Really improved! He is Beautiful every Ugly Duckling turns into the most beautiful swans :)

You, my dear, are a true horsewoman!

This video is SO inspirational for me. I've been having so many problems with my mare I almost decided to either retire her or go ahead and sell her and then I saw this video and it made me change my mind..seeing this came at a great time.

EuphoricEquestrian 6 months ago
This had me bawling. Yes, every horse, dog and cat deserves a second chance! Without you he might have ended up on someone's dinner plate, and instead he's a shining example of what time, love and patience can achieve.
I have a similar horse - a paint also - who had similar beginnings and then became a fantastic novice eventer before a career-ending injury. But like Tiny, he went from a horse people wondered why I brought to shows to a showstopper. Thanks for sharing this lovely story.
CanAmFam 6 months ago

There's no such thing as a bad apple! The video and your story are so inspirational. It's true that the special horses have "try" deep within them and that desire to please their person is more important than athletic ability and breeding. Tiny is a shining example of that. this reminds me of my friend and her horse!

Just wonderfu. I shall post it to all my endurance friends that I have been 'coaching' for years. Very well done - two great hearts as One.

Bravo!

Teddy has such a huge heart. These guys are sometimes better that any fancy expensive Warmblood. You can tell he really enjoys eventing.
