fun fact the sleeping beauty's castle you see today wasn't the original design. walt disney made a design of the castle that was supposed to be much smaller and less colorful, but an employee had been working on redesigning the castle in secret and the day he brought it to work walt liked it much better. so the front you see today is the new design but if you go through the castle and into fantasyland turn around and look at the castle, its completely different and that was the old design

Walt Disney said that Disneyland castles should be kept small to be warmer and friendlier and not intimidate the guests.

@bmcj199 The Magic Kingdom castle in Florida didn't really intimidate me at all. That's how I imagined a castle when I was 5.

Can you now go into the castle? After 9/11 they closed it and when I went last about 2 years ago they still had it closed. Has anyone gone recently that can confirm it's been re-opened?

@iknownothing34 The first trip I made to Disneyland after 9/11 an employee at the gift shop at the castle said it was for security/terrorist prevention. I highly doubt they'd target sleeping beauty's castle, but Disneyland took extra precautions. In later years I heard they decided to renovate it. I did go in April and has been open for some time, but it is nothing like the castle I grew up knowing. Wish they'd change it back :(

I am not sure, scuzzbuzzproductions, Everyone I know says Disneyland is the best. And my friend from Florida says Disney World is better! but I'm going to Disneyland so I will say that's best but when I am older, I will go to Disney World in Florida and see if which one's best! Disney World has four theme parks, doesn't it?

i remember theres this castle over there that u can go into and me and my freinds were all alone in it, so we thought, and the we herd foot stept so we all got freeked out, then we herd a door shut and thats when we started running. then we found out that it was a worker.

It's shown in the video. And that's actually the geographic center of the original park. Obviously with the expansions it's not longer true. But it's still cool.

actually no, its sleeping beauty because at every different disney location there is a different castle for a different character and if you compare the castles at disney world and disneyland.. you can tell the difference

True this is Sleeping Beauty's castle. But out of the 5 parks with castles, only Sleeping Beauty(3) and Cinderella(2) are used. You'd think they'd try to hit all 6 originals. But they didn't.

Before 9/11 you could go in the castle and it would have different parts from the movie. It was rly cool. The summer after 9/11 however, they closed it down because they were afraid of having someone attack their trade mark. What i dont understand is why dont they do a better security thing?
