I will admit I love both brands of Computers, I like Windows, and Mac. Mac for its Simple based systems for a Medium price. but Cheaper than windows. But windows for a Cheap PC for basic uses. Then If you know the right people. You can Get a WAY cheaper Windows PC then a Mac system.

I bought a MacBook Pro with the nvidia card broken after a month service to repair it. I also have a iphone without wifi. I am comparing to 10 year old Asus with Ubuntu that works with it and nothing happens sory for my english it's late in Poland now :)

IF HONDA CAN MAKE cars for under 20, reliable as all hell with features. then apple SURE AS HELL can make computers fully functional with keyboard under 1k. THe difference is that a company like honda GETS IT! apple does NOT! honda wouldn't approve every design form their R&D team like apple would. Some are good but are utter crap when implemented in certain products. And they CAN push for better prices. They simply do not want to because their profits are the only thing that matters to them.

Not everyone can build their own, so people are willing to buy them. Jakeamura also makes a good point that you are also comparing desktops to laptops.
I just want apple to release an AVERAGE desktop. Not a Mac mini, Mac Pro, or iMac, but an average priced tower PC than you can use your own monitor with, upgrade easily, and other things that makes PC's more successful. There is no average apple desktop.
@versionintegrale my mac mini was 500 bucks. people seem to think you need to buy directly from apple; if you buy an older or refurbished mac from a different site you can get better deals. Apple doesnt sell their older products anymore, but you can get nice machines for 100-200 bucks less than they were when apple sold them.
@versionintegrale any Mac Mini with nVidia graphic chipset can play them all pretty fast. don't forget that the OpenGL implementation on Mac OS X makes OpenGL run 1.5x to 2.0x times faster.
and btw, i have a wii and a ps3, so i really couldnt give a fuck about playing games on my mac when i can enjoy them on a 52' screen.

Besides, when people are brought up on those so called "useless medieval units of measurement" (that work just as well, so calling them useless is just being ignorant), our odometers read in miles, gas is measured in gallons, food is measured in pounds or ounces for the most part, what's the point in switching when it works just fine and we already know it?

Steve Jobs nailed it. Macs are by far the best PCs in the industry. Unlike most of the Windows fan boys, I have both Windows and a Mac. My mac runs so much smoother, more reliable, and above all it's just more fun. I ended up moving all my games from my PC to my Mac.
Totally on point with that remote thing..Apple is about getting the job done without cluttering the hell out of things. Apple is about being simple, clean and efficient, omitting tons of bloating features like Windows still hasn't gotten over. I hated buying a new laptop because I knew it'd be the same shit; having to delete for hours bullshit programs and trial software I'd never use even if it WERE free. Apple IS the Beatles.

I know a Macbook is somewhat expensive and i know that it might be cheaper. But it's not only performance that matters, it's the superb operating system that really does the trick. In my opinion (which doesn't mean everyone has to feel the same way) the Mac OS is just much easier to use and is more intelligent than the windows operating systems. Sure Windows has some great stuff in there too, but after exploring the Mac I noticed that it works more convenient than my Windows pc.
I am an Apple fan and I don't even own a Mac. The only problem I've have with Apple Is their prices. You're telling me that there's no possibly way that even their cheapest laptop doesn't go under a grand (i know $999 exact). And every desktop Is at least a hundred or two more. I know there's the Mac Mini,but that doesn't even come with a monitor,keyboard,etc. I wish Apple would make some cheaper products, (do not say ipad.) Like a netbook, or something, anything more affordable.

Every PC I have owned, no matter what I paid for it, I felt as though I paid too much for what I got. With Macs, no matter what I paid, I feel like I paid too little. The user experience is just that much better with Apple products.

If they wanted to make a remote for media center that did what the apple remote did, it'd be just as simple and small. Could you please point me to a mac that is in anyway shape or form EXTREMELY BETTER than the PC's i build? I bet you wont find a 3.4ghz AMD QUAD in a mac with over 8gigs of ram and 2 western digital black edition drives in raid0 with an ATI 4870 and the option to add another and another and another for up to 4 graphic cards rendering one game. I don't see any mac that is even close to the specifications than my pc oh and i spent on average a grand less on my pc than even the mid-range macbooks

Lol how is having your own products in a closed system, a monopoly? A monopoly is one company running the whole industry. In case you haven't noticed, Mac os X isn't the only operating system out there. It's apple's product, they can do what they wan't with it. I like the way u think. I'm a Mac user but my next computer will probably be a PC (I'm thinking Lenovo depending on what their product line up is in a few years, I LOVE the Thinkpad X series), and what I would do is to go into the BIOS and set it to boot from a USB thumb drive, and just pop Ubuntu onto it. Yes, there would be Windows if needed, there would be Windows via WINE or running Windows as a VM, but not directly on the hardware itself, because I want a safe & stable system; that's Linux.
Yeah. I still run Windows just for certain things. I would get an ASUS laptop if you get a PC. I have an ASUS netbook and at my job we use a lot of ASUS laptops and they run better than our HPs and Dells, they also last long. As for a Linux distro, I would recommend Linux Mint, it's based on Ubuntu but much easier to switch to if you come from a Windows or Mac OS background. Mint supports a lot of hardware and multimedia codecs right out of the box.

IF HONDA CAN MAKE cars for under 20, reliable as all hell with features. then apple SURE AS HELL can make computers fully functional with keyboard under 1k. THe difference is that a company like honda GETS IT! apple does NOT! honda wouldn't approve every design form their R&D team like apple would. Some are good but are utter crap when implemented in certain products. And they CAN push for better prices. They simply do not want to because their profits are the only thing that matters to them.

Apple doesnt sell their older products anymore, but you can get nice machines for 100-200 bucks less than they were when apple sold them.

@versionintegrale any Mac Mini with nVidia graphic chipset can play them all pretty fast. don't forget that the OpenGL implementation on Mac OS X makes OpenGL run 1.5x to 2.0x times faster.
and btw, i have a wii and a ps3, so i really couldnt give a fuck about playing games on my mac when i can enjoy them on a 52' screen.

Besides, when people are brought up on those so called "useless medieval units of measurement" (that work just as well, so calling them useless is just being ignorant), our odometers read in miles, gas is measured in gallons, food is measured in pounds or ounces for the most part, what's the point in switching when it works just fine and we already know it?

i bet you count with the decimal system and having a metric system based on decimal system (m, dm, hm, km) allows you to calculate easier and quickier a submultiple.

We are never really taught our primary system (at least not when I went through school) because we use it so often there almost isn't a need to be taught it in-depth (unless you're getting into something like cooking).

I know a Macbook is somewhat expensive and i know that it might be cheaper. But it's not only performance that matters, it's the superb operating system that really does the trick. In my opinion (which doesn't mean everyone has to feel the same way) the Mac OS is just much easier to use and is more intelligent than the windows operating systems. I am an Apple fan and I don't even own a Mac. The only problem I've have with Apple Is their prices. You're telling me that there's no possibly way that even their cheapest laptop doesn't go under a grand (i know $999 exact). And every desktop Is at least a hundred or two more. I know there's the Mac Mini,but that doesn't even come with a monitor,keyboard,etc. I wish Apple would make some cheaper products, (do not say ipad.) I bet you wont find a 3.4ghz AMD QUAD in a mac with over 8gigs of ram and 2 western digital black edition drives in raid0 with an ATI 4870 and the option to add another and another and another for up to 4 graphic cards rendering one game. I like the way u think. I'm a Mac user but my next computer will probably be a PC (I'm thinking Lenovo depending on what their product line up is in a few years, I LOVE the Thinkpad X series), and what I would do is to go into the BIOS and set it to boot from a USB thumb drive, and just pop Ubuntu onto it. Yes, there would be Windows if needed, there would be Windows via WINE or running Windows as a VM, but not directly on the hardware itself, because I want a safe & stable system; that's Linux.

Yeah. I still run Windows just for certain things. I would get an ASUS laptop if you get a PC. I have an ASUS netbook and at my job we use a lot of ASUS laptops and they run better than our HPs and Dells, they also last long. As for a Linux distro, I would recommend Linux Mint, it's based on Ubuntu but much easier to switch to if you come from a Windows or Mac OS background. Mint supports a lot of hardware and multimedia codecs right out of the box.

1- made of aluminum
2- it has an apple on it and you like shiny things
3- want to go to a coffee shop and show people i have an apple cost 3000$

dont understand the last part...the apple control has just a wheel to move around and the thing for the media center has more features like volumne control, chanel, fast access to other parts of the center...so i will choose the thing from MS...anyway MediaCenter kicks Frontrows ass...
