Like seagraver said not an open cab, called them canopy cabs in my neck of the woods. When I started we actually stood on the tailboard. Then we got a canopy cab and thought we were styling. Now everyone is inside the cab, safer in the long run but not near as cool. The young firefighters have a tough time believing we stood on the tailboard. Dang young whipper snappers, they have it so easy with nice air conditioned cabs.
The Atlanta Fire Department ran an engine similar to that at the station near our house up until the early 80's. It's true they were old, but they got the job done!
pretty cool to see an old fire truck still in service!!! Kudos to those who kept up the maintenance!!!!
