I don't think she has a bad voice. I just think she's been struck by what I call "Brittany Spears Syndrome": Several years ago, I watched girls who had previously sung beautifully suddenly began singing everything pop-style. They all wanted to be the newest pop star, and changed their singing style to match hers. I suspect that's the case here. She is trying to sound just like the original singer, pop-style tone and all, rather than using the pure, simple timbre that is appropriate for her age.
