  • I like this shit man! Brings me in a very quiet mood.. Are there also studiotakes or something? I`m very curious how that would sound. Good job buddy!!!

  • @Guitarplanet100

Nothing pre-recorded. All live, bro. Thanks for the love and make sure you rate the videos you dig!

    :-)

  • Nice playing mate :)

  • @mattstevensguitar

Thanks, Matt! This video has helped me get a lot of Looping students that I teach in various countries using Skype and a web cam. Do you loop?

  • @davidbrucemusicvideo I do a bit :) Great stuff mate :)

  • @mattstevensguitar

I do online lessons, if you ever need any pointers. :-)

  • @davidbrucemusicvideo awesome :) There is an interview with me in the new issue of Guitar Player about it - hope we can share some info :)

  • I like this a lot bro!

  • @PaulDavidGuidry

Hey, thanks Paul. l didn't see this comment until just now, l guess. Sorry. I like to reply to everyone who comments on these. :-)

  • @PaulDavidGuidry

Thanks, man... My live shows were WAY more intense than this, but I don't post too much of that. I used to do clinics, but don't like them because so many musicians are watching me and I find I think differently as a teacher than as a performer at a live concert. But yea, this is pretty cool... :-)

  • This doesn't look like Guitar Center, it appears to be a liquor store.

  • @ccccarla

LOL! I never heard that before! Maybe it was. I can't remember... =:-)

  • this is pretty awesome man!!!! Loop on brotha!!!!!!!

  • this is so sick

  • @ThomasBarryTV

Sick? As in you have a cough due to cold? LOL!

    :-)

  • I'm so excited because I'd like to join ;- )

  • @The14021969

You'd like to join? What do you mean? :-)

  • I´d like to join making musik with U cause I´m also a spontanious musican.

  • This is awesome!

  • Dude you are awsome because you have an ebow and are really good at guitar what boxes do you use to loop

  • @needforcreed067

Hey, sorry l didn't see this before. I have a slew of pedals, but use 2 to loop. The Boss RC20 and the Line 6 DL4. I have pictures on my facebook fan page. Let me know if you want to see the pictures. :-)

  • a LOTTA BOLLOCKS

  • Hey man, you should know better. It is not appropriate to tune the bass guitar in the middle of the spontaneous song. Sure it's spontaneous in the fact that you might not know exactly how the song will pan out, but it's not so spontaneous that you can't tune the bass before you start playing. Come On! Everything should be set up to go before you start! No fiddling around with peddles etc during the playing please. It is distracting and takes away from the good music you are able to create.

  • @boogiefever1985

You obviously didn't hear me say why the bass wasn't set up. lt was Guitar Center's bass and l asked the store to have it set up a half step down for me. When l began to play it, it wasn't. There was a big crowd gathered to see me because l was asked to do the clinic there in downtown Chicago.

Looking back at the video, l should've just played the riff a fret lower, but when you're a looping artist with so much to think about, ya get thrown off once in a while. Sorry. :-)

  • @davidbrucemusicvideo Haha who am I to complain? It was obviously Guitar Center's screw up in Chi-town. I suppose nothing beats a quick sound check / tuning check of all instruments before starting. But oh well, we live and learn. Either way, good work for getting out there and playing. That's what is all about of course! do you like richie havens?

  • @boogiefever1985

Interestingly enough, this IS my sound check. Anytime l play a gig, l just start jamming whatever comes to my head for the first song so l can see if the levels are ok...

I don't smoke enough weed to be into Richie and his big thumb scares me... =:-o

  • thats absolutely bad ass... what is the basic setup of your guitar?? I would love to learn how to get my acoustic running through pedal effects like that..

  • @YourBrainOnReligion Add me on facebook and you can see my pedal set up in my pictures section. My addy is on my profile here...

I use 2 looping pedals, a wah, e Boss DD6 digital stereo delay, Ernie Ball volume pedal, etc. The pedal board is huge! LOL! It sounds better live because l use huge 18 inch subs! What kind of acoustic do u use?

  • @davidbrucemusicvideo Just a cheap beginners Johnson. I only started playing about a year ago. No facebook account, sorry. I gotta get my hands on a pedal or two and try them out.

  • who taught you how to loop like that?

    dig the concept!

I am a solo artist and do not want a band?

I have a full size keyboard, will that work?

  • @jackschmoke08

Yes, you can loop anything with looping pedals! Try one out from guitar center. lf you don't like it, take it back within 30 days! I taught myself how to loop! Add me on facebook and you can see my pedal set up

  • ha nevermind!

  • Is that a bass or a Fender Jag in the background?

    Oh sounds awesome!

    kewl vibe

  • DUDE! That was freaking AWESOME! I LOVE IT SHABA!

  • What I meant by "locked in" was your ability to change chords. I was wondering if a looping pedal would work in real time,in a live setting with multiple chord changes. Also what speed is your delay set at? milliseconds I mean. Dan

  • Oh, I don't know what the milliseconds is on the delay. I have one with a tap tempo. Just tap it to the beat and its beautiful!

Loopers just play what you play and then loop back around. Can't do a lot of changes... I have two so I can go from one phrase to the next... :-) Go to my LOOPING PLAYLIST and check out the other one from the first time I did a clinic a year earlier. And look for a song here called INDIA. You'll dig the looping there.

  • Thank you David, I would be so happy if you were in my band. LOL I used to be in several bands back in the 70's. 500 stars for your great performance!!

  • You play very well, nice.

  • Wow! This is amazing... "Spontaneous spiritual song" is the only way I can describe this.

Got to admit, some parts sounded like the Edge of U2!

  • hey thanks its bigbback75 thanks man and "bliss" lol

  • WOW!!! What was the effect/pedal you can hear really clearly at 0:17 and 0:20? (obviously not the looper) and is he/you just using a guitar pick?

  • I'm using an "Ebow" to make that sound thru a DD6 delay pedal and a Morely Bad Horsie wah pedal. The Ebow magneticlly vibrates the string like a bow on a violin. Pretty cool, huh?!

    :-)

  • majestic, a great feeling of wild and introspective trip, your music is cinematographic

  • ya man !

  • wow very very talented

  • Thanx for sharing David.

Very entertaining. I can see that playing in delayed time like that would take some practice, which you obviously, have mastered. Well done. Bravo ! ;)

  • There`s a lot of talent in you. I really enjoyed this video cause you did lots of interesting things by sampling the sounds played live like improvising along a C major scale and dropping the tuning one tone on the bass guitar. Those are the ones I most like, but the whole ``spontaneous spiritual song`` is awesome.

Congratulations and keep up with it.

  • thanks for the love, delgift!

  • Haunting, cool guitar...different! More intense vocals (layered/echoeing) would really do the trick w/a pro recording. Awesome job...you got talent! God Bless You!

  • may the streets all over america fill with music, song, dance and expressions of love to the Creator of all. I love you Papa and agree with you for America. :D *big humongous smile

  • AWESOME!

  • awesome work...one more time 5 stars for you...

  • love it! reminds me of the soundtrack of "august rush"...How can you record this instrumentals, so that they repeat? how is the equipment called (I need that) :), blessings

  • idk why but the guitar kinda reminds me of AVA - kinda like an outer space - exterrestrial feel

  • This is amazing...

It sounds like the sounds of heaven...

    5 stars.

  • This is pretty incredible. Sort of reminds me of the early "Edge" days of U2. Wonderful to express oneself through music so spontaneously.

  • beautiful song, It was really spontaneous? wow! what talent you have. 5/5

  • Really Cool.

  • nice impro ;)

  • wow, now that's talent! love it, sounds really really good!! :) i bought myself a guitar, but seems like i'm just not made for it ^^

  • u might not have been made for the guitar, but the guitar was made for u!

just hold it, let your hair down, and the rest will work out ok...

  • true words of wisdom

  • wordd. i thought i likedd keller haha.

Wow this is soo sick, you look so focused and into your music. thankkss 4 sending ;)

  • whoa man this is amazing looping

  • thanks for the love, alec!

  • David you are a great musician. Great job!!! 5 stars.

  • thanks for the comment and rating, harp man!

  • this is quite amazing. great playing, and great use of effects, and good music too:)

  • thanks, bro...

  • Now this is what I call AWESOME my friend!

You know it really reminded me of the playing style of Dave Weiner (Steve Vai band) and that's a good thing!

So many pedals and things but you had it completelly under control !

    5 stars ***** !!!

Also it was very cool to do this kind of thing with an acoustic guitar instead of an electric guitar!

    Just amazing !

  • Dave Weiner, huh? wow, i never would've thought of that!

    thanks, bro!

  • I did'nt realize this was a movement of sorts, because I had experienced it at a ZHop meeting and ws amazed. You're telling me I can learn this technique for myself, and there are clinics? Wow!

  • good stuff! I like how casual you when you're playing. You seem very confident in what you're doing and if ppl like good and if they don't that's ok too.

When you do the little delay riffs b/w vocal lines are you turning the delay on and off or just palming muting while singing?

  • i keep the delay pedal on during the singing parts, but just play softer during the vocal parts.

if i move to La. will u be in my worship band!!??

  • haha, yeah I'll be in your ONE MAN band... not sure how that works.

  • this is incredible!

  • David this is phenomenal. I wanna get better at looping like you, but only my own style. Seems like you got a lot going on the floor there. It sounded like a synthesizer or something. Great Job!!

  • Great job on the video, Dave - I think I know your "camera person"! :) You always entertain with some great stuff!

    Enjoy your weekend, Dude! Trav- - - 6 STARZ! (I one upp'd ya!) :-)

  • wow! who is that hatted man!?

    5 starz

  • david bruce is amazing:)

  • Great Loop. Lots of fun to watch.
