@fractalfires Repeat what you wish. But the RECORD here will speak for itself. I never called you a name. I challenged you to have Hebrew read to you in LIVE CHAT. I am done with your nonsense.
@fractalfires According to the "best Hebrew scholars" ...which you clearly are NOT. I can read and write in Hebrew and Greek. You do not understand what spiritual death means. LOL. Wow...it is clear you need to study Christian theology more.
@fractalfires No, the liar is you. As I said, come to Paltalk and I will READ GENESIS 2 TO YOU IN HEBREW. Don't tell me what I don't know. You have exposed yourself as one who makes wild assumptions and does not know Scripture accurately.
@fractalfires Really now? I know nothing of Hebrew? How about you join me in a LIVE audio chat like Paltalk or video chat like Stikam, so I can READ TO YOU GENESIS 2 in Hebrew? I know BOTH original languages of the Bible. So don't go there with me. You have revealed your nature by name-calling and your ignorance is revealed. No, it's YOU who knows nothing of Hebrew. LOL.
@fractalfires LOL. You clearly do not know the Bible. The text clearly says IN THE DAY YOU EAT, you will surely die. Not 930 years later. So it is clear that on that day, Adam and Eve died spiritually, and LATER physical death followed. It's really simple. Case was never open because you don't understand Scripture. Now if you want to persist in displaying your ignorance, then please explain what Jesus meant in Matt. 8:22. PLEASE try to tell me He meant physically dead. LOL.
@fractalfires Try reading Genesis 2:17 then compare Gen. 3:6-9, then read Gen. 5:5. You should be able to get this. God said in the DAY you eat, you shall surely die. It is clear no one died that day...thus...if it wasn't physical it had to be (drum roll).....
The only thing I would add here is that, being a new Christian, you are more suseptable to false doctrine. I find Paul Washer is unnecessarily alarmist and at times unbiblical in his views. In one video he totally took a Psalm out of context making up a flawed argument based on his out of context Psalm. So I would advise you to be careful, prayerful and discerning. The church does not teach "decisional regeneration." That something Paul made up. God does the regenerating upon repentance.
While I would agree with you concerning Paul Washer's approach. Decisional Regeneration is an approach that has been used often (Especially in seeker-sensitive churches) Maybe not the church that you go to, and I thank God that you have one that dosent teach that. But from experience I can say that it does, and it is an approach that does not exist in the new testament. To a person that is lost and "dead in sin" cannot choose God. A man must be regenerated before one can repent
blaqstar1. While a person "dead" in sin is dead to God, such a person is still alive physically and can make choices. There is no Scripture that teaches you must be regenerated "before" you can repent. Repentance comes first, then there is forgiveness, then regeneration. There are similarities between the "dead" physically and the dead spiritually, but there are also vital differences. There is no absolute correlation.
able to make choices....yes. able to choose the good as relates to salvation....no. we have a will but it is bound to choosing only what God considers evil and not good that could assist in your salvation. dead means dead. dead in sin is what the scriptures teach. unable to respond to God. thus the reason and necessity for regeneration which is soley done by God for His glory alone. read "Bondage of the Will" by Martin Luther and "The Death of Death in the Death of Christ" by John Owen.
parakeethands...It's not about choosing anything that could "assist" in salvation. Salvation does involve a choice. Dead may mean dead, BUT there is a vital difference between being dead physically and dead spiritually. Physically dead people can't do ANYTHING. However, spiritually dead people can drive cars, fly airplanes, etc. The Bible nowhere teaches that you must be regenerated BEFORE you can respond to God. I don't have to read Luther or Owen on that. Scripture is clear enough.
yes scripture DOES in fact teach regeneration before repentance. the bible teaches that the very act of repentance and faith is a gift given after the gift of regeneration has been accomplished. look at Philippians 1:29. i didn't say you had to read Luther and Owen, they only point out what the scriptures already teach. it's always helpful to consult other books about the bible, commentaries, classic systematic theology, etc. in the context of scripture on being dead in sin means dead 2 God
you really didn't make a point here. everyone knows that a physically alive person is capable of different functions, hence the term "alive" by the very definition that they are in fact able to function in a lively manner. no one doubts or debates that. that would be illogical. however, the context of scripture is such that it teaches man outside of God is dead in sin and therefore totally unable to respond to God as it relates to repentance toward salvation and so needs God's intervention.
I also wanted to add that when I mentioned "church" in my prior post, I was not speaking of "my" church but the church as a whole. We make decisions but our decisions do not produce salvation - God does. We love Him because He first loved us, but His "first" does not negate that we return that love.
yes there are many churches that in fact do teach decisional regeneration. maybe you should read some books on this subject to become aware of what is being taught in churches. you might want to read "The Invitation System" by Iain H. Murray to begin with.
then you aren't looking. decisional "regeneration' is so accepted as being the way it's done by so many that many do not even question it nor do they seem to see the need to question it. they just think that it's been done this way so it's the way to continue. it's in the very fabric of church "services" to have altar calls. look at the Billy Graham crusades, Greg Laurie too. it IS on a wide scale. open your eyes and look around you.
If you want to see this, I got some great places to go see this. Oentecostal, Independent Fundamental Baptist and some Evangelical churches. Perhaps also Weslyan type churches-never really went to one, but because of my experiance in those other types of churchrs.

it appears as though from what i am reading and what i have heard from scholars that reformed theology is experiencing a revival!!! hallelujah!!! i am excited about it! may i also recommend r.c. sproul, john piper, michael horton, martin luther, john calvin, jonathan edwards, john owen, etc. and other puritan authors such as charles spurgeon, richard baxter, john mcgill ( i think)....etc. :)
Blaqstar1, thanks for posting this. What an encouragement. I can really relate to all the postings on here as well. I made my "decision" many times during my childhood/teenage/college years only to find out now that I had never truly repented of my sins with "Godly sorrow" that only he can grant us. It takes a supernatural work of God in our hearts to break the tradition of men "decisionism" that has been created and passed down over the last several decades.
You say that one has to show evidence and that scipture says to bring forth fruit suitable for repentance. What do you think that means? You also say that choosing Christ is not any where in scripture. We know that Jesus preached man's need to repent all through the Gospels, as does the all of scripture. What do you think that means? What has changed in your heart from your previous condition?
To bring forth fruits suitable for repentence (Luke 3:7) is to recognise one's depravity before God and that we have nothing within ourselves to offer him to warrent our salvation (human righteousness, works). The person that comesto that knowledge will have no self-righteousness whatsoever and will come humbley to Christ that is what that means. Choosing Christ is nowhere in scripture when I say that I mean this. In Scripture no one decided that Christ was Lord he just was (Con't)
As far as Decisionism no one comes to Christ unless the Father calls them (John 6:44). Also God works in us to will and do that of his Good Pleasure (Phil. 2:13). So based on those verses you cannot choose Christ unless God draws you nor can you seek God unless God by his Spirit compels you to. Repentence is not of man either, it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit alone that draws men to repent. John 16:8-11. Men cannot/will not repent on their own because by nature they hate God (Rom 1:30)con't
My life has changed in many way since my conversion but mostly in this way. The sin that was so enjoyable to me before I now hate and mourn over and the God that I so despised and Mocked I now throw myself upon as my only hope. I hope this helped.
Yah bless you my brother, for your bold testimony of the truth, and Yah bless brother Lane for being a lighthouse, in the midst of darkness, here on You Tube. I came from a very well known legalistic institutional background, where they made us tarry, i.e. clap, spit and roll around all night shouting out, "Please, Please, PLEASE... save me Jesus! My heart is filled with sorrow for them, because this is still their way.
The first thing that I saw a problem with was this doctrine of "decisional regeneration". Which as I read things like, "If you persist..", "examine yourself to see if you are in the faith", "They went out from among us because they were not part of us..", "They will say Lord Lord and I will say depart from me I never knew you". That throws a real monkey wrench into "Pray the prayer and you're in". Then to find out that whole decision idea was very recent. Praise God he woke you and I up!
Not what the youth pastor did. But the response. I didn't understand why we wouldn't hold to doctrine no matter the cost. Why discipline wasn't practiced. Then I found Ligonier Ministries, Paul Washer, Spurgeon, Luther, MacArthur, Nine Marks Ministries. Then I saw the real mess the Church was in. How "evangelicals" were not willing to fight for Truth, or even debate it. They want peace, unity. But unity based on anything but Truth is not real unity. Doctrine divides.
We ran into some teaching that should have had no traction at all in our Church. But when we confronted it with leadership it was handled "quietly". The Youth Pastor left who was entertaining it and they never made any kind of statement to warn others of his teaching things that we would not allow him to teach. I was given all kinds of excuses. But ultimately it was that they were afraid it would cause problems because he was very popular with some. It was this that woke me up.
Praise God! I believe it was Paul Washer who said there was a rvival underway that most people were not aware of. That he was finding young people all over the world who were "discovering" the old preachers, Luther, Spurgeon, Calvin,Whitfield and Edwards. In the last couple of years my wife and I both started down that very road. We saw problems in the way the Bible described being saved and the way our Southern Baptist Church described it. Not to mention the lack of real understanding of God.
Praise God! What a blessing it is to hear a bit of your testimony. As with many others responding to your video, I too was in a similar place. It wasn't until recently that God directed me into some of these great truths hidden through tradition in most churches. I am hungry for God's word; I am hungry for Him! It seems that the modern church is at a crux. Some are drifting further away and some are drifting toward scripture. Soli Deo Gloria!!
blagstar1...we've never met, but you are my spiritual brother, it is great to hear your testimony and insight. I agree with you 100%. It is so enjoyable to witness this development in your spiritual insight and discernment. May God continue to bless you as you feed on God's Word.
