I was listening to youtubes MOF playlist and all the songs are really good but i just minimised the internet and was doing something else, but when this song started playing..... ;)
My aunt passed away from brain cancer a few months back, and before she died she listened to this song and she cried and said how beautiful it was. It was great to see her talking because she was so heavily medicated. Needless to say i love this song. R.I.P Aunt Jane <3
simple song about personal religious questions and concerns. pretty, solid, thoughtful. This is not sad, i think that it is one of the best songs of the album.
"I have lived,Sir a long time, and the longer i live the more convincing proofs i see of this truth:that God governs in the affairs of men.And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice,is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?" Ben Franklin
"There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting. But he dare not face this thought! Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not rational, he becomes furious when they are disputed."
I may be translating this the wrong way, but here is what I take from the lyrics:
The beginning talks about Mohammad and Christ (Jesus I presume) playing together and they hear god - the same god (Master's Voice) to rewrite the bible. The rest is about soldiers dying and how they each may have different ideas of what "god/christ" is and how they hear them at death, but its still the same Master's voice.
Is it omnitheism or the fact that there is a certain sense of "morals" everyone has?
Omnitheism is basically the belief in all religions (or no religion but belief that there is a self and an external entity (god) that exists). OR the fact that the morals placed in our lives is actually our "Master's Voice?"
This song really got me into studying radically different religions other than Western ones. Jim and MoF...you are going to be famous forever.
great song, reminds me of my aunt.....we recently found out she had cancer, and her medication makes her not hear words clearly, but she says that she loves the music to this song....makes her tear up. And she says once shes better she will check out the words.
Agreed - not to mention his absolutely incredible earth shaking vocals. Literally, I went to the concert in Louisville (JJ's hometown, muaha) and the walls were shaking when he hit some high notes on MMJ songs covered by MoF.
No but October 31 (halloween!) in Louisville...where Jim James is from. Haven't been this excited since MMJ visited Ear-x-stacy (a music shop down the road from my house,) and when they played riverfront.
It has been one of my life challenges to get top comment.
