exactly and now espn is saying ovechkins the next gretzky not crosby because he was the points total, but im sorry crosby was before he got hurt and he was mvp already, also they say ovechkins tougher, but i dont remeber ovechkin fighting, but not only fighting but winning

in the 80's the overal style of ice-hockey was much more offensive than defensive but nowadays it's the other way round, the play is much more physical and goalkeepers have also got better and mainly bigger kits... Not trying to degrade Peter Stastny and his bros but at that time much more goals were scored in average per game and was easier to get away from defenders...

not really thats why the entire purpose of the new NHL is to have more goals so they toke out the 2 line pass rule and limited goaltender puck controlling. and goals are up.
More goals = More fans. NHL is to commercial now...
