  • @Fiisherdan... If your back has been hurt for 3 months with no signs of improvement, you probably have a problem far more serious than foam roller injury. You should see a doctor or a chiropractor.

  • Very helpful video! Nicely done. Thank you.

  • Scott,

Im going to ask you politely, to remove this video. Foam rolling the lower back WILL lead to injuries. Just because you have alot of lower back muscle. Other people, such as myself. Get injured. I have now been injured for 3 months since I watched this video. And no sign of improvement.

  • Who cares about how big his legs are? Your not getting any stronger by complaining at someone on youtube. Big cheers to this fellow instead who's helping people on his free time!

  • thank you for your video. I've had a foam roller for 6 months (gathering dust) until i came across your video. Now, I will incorporate your techniques to get the knots out of my muscles.

  • You talk way to much... not very helpful.

  • I tried this with my penis...it hurt even more...

  • @scotthermanfitness lol your ripped no reason to where shirts !!!

  • I agree with most of the viewer here as well, I think what your doing is amazing too!, I like the Eye Candy as well, Keep up the good work, as I admired what you do...

  • hi scott,

would you mind making a video on how to get toned rib cage muscles? (under pecs and on the sides of the chest)

    thanks.

  • dont mind what people say ur doing greatt

  • different t-bag positions with foam roller

  • this guy is fucking ripped I just subbed hell yeah.

  • Need to work those legs. Your starting to get a jail body. All pecks and nothing else.

  • ughh sexy......

  • i know i not the only one that clicked the video cause i saw a sexy body

  • can you show us a video of you maxing your bench press? and can you also tell us ur weight and your body fat? plz <3!!!! im ur huge fan!

  • Being a massage therapist my clients are always saying how they are using their foam roller... but in all honesty, I never learned this stuff in my massage school. So finally your video has explained it to me. Thanks for such a great video (and the great eye candy as well).

  • Flexforall is better

  • Hey Scott, Cold you do a video on how to loosen Tight muscles, like do different tecniques or stretches or workouts, as i have tight hamstrings and i want to join the RAF :)

  • I'm surprised you didn't recommend using some type of ball (tennis for beginners, baseball for more advanced) to really work out some of those knots. I find that using a baseball on my calves as well as on my shoulder blades really allows it to get into the muscle. But great video besides that.

  • SCOTT - Is there a recommended length I should purchase? I have seen these in 18", 20", 24" and 36 inch lengths. Yours appears to be 18" or 20". What's the purpose behind the different lengths?

  • great info and i like the shortcuts so i didn't have to scan.

  • Great, easy instructions, I did all of them except arms, but I have to say the hip adductor and IT band was so awesome as well as the glutes, just what I needed. It will be interesting to see if my massage therapist notices a difference after a week of doing this. One question if you lay on it vertically will it help pull your shoulders back for better posture?

  • That was amazing Scott. Great Job! - Funk Roberts

  • Awesome!

  • Picture Scott in these positions without the foam roller...

  • Nice vid Scott I been super tight in my back and heard this was a excellent way to get rid of the pain.

  • yeah, thumbs up on self massage, scott.

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks man, thats really good stuff!

  • just got a roller today! you showed some new moves that I had not yet heard of! nice! I also like to hit up my shins on the roller as well!

  • Good video Scott, well done. Going to give this a try to help loosen up as my mobility is pretty poor, can see this aiding recovery too. Thanks for sharing.

  • ur neck viens intimidate the shit out of me.

  • How many days a week should you do this to see the results?thanks

  • @MrDeking10

    Whenever you are sore.

  • i bet doing the hip adductor was awkward xD

  • 2 things - 1) Scott, thx for taking ALL the time to shoot and post tons and tons of informative, helpful and motivational vids. You're the man! and 2) I THINK I head way back when that massage releases toxins or some such and you may feel a bit sick afterwards, so to combat that you should drink lots of water. Has anybody else heard that, or am I totally making that up?

  • @steveh88

You are correct. Whether you release toxins or not, I am not scientifically sure. But people do often feel sick after massages or feel really bad. FLuids is typically the recommended cure for this.

  • @Mr123Score Thanks man, I appreciate the info.

  • Thank you for linking to the individual sections of the video. It helped me find what I was looking for.

  • Scott, wonderful video......very helpful. I've tried it on my lower back and already gotten great results.....thanks for all y ou do for so many!!

  • Hi Scott, it's unbelievable with how much shit you have to put up with, really incredibe how some people can't seem to like other people, who try to help or have achieved the goals that those people want to achieve as well. Great job dealing with it and everything you're doing!

  • dont fuck the foam :(

  • To those haters who are dissing this...I use mine daily and it really works for me. The middle back roll keeps my spine aligned and back pain-free. Thanks from New Zealand, Scott, I'm learning from your videos.

  • Good instruction Scott cheers

  • What kind of gear do you use?

  • @sub7design enough to keep making them and help the world become a healthier place. ;) Kisses <3

  • @ScottHermanFitness Then learn to lift and learn rehab from professionals, otherwise you are just increasing the risk of injuries for so many newbs who think you give sound advice.

  • @ScottHermanFitness

    hehehe... good answer

  • @sub7design

    fuck u....

  • @sub7design

is not a stupid ass video you jackass...stop spam if you know nothin...fuck you...

  • @sub7design

is not a stupid ass video you jackass...stop spam if you know nothin..i like this video..

  • @sub7design No one makes money from youtube videos so ignore scotts comment he doesn't make money from his videos he's just trolling you.

  • @seanyo82 You're ignorant. He has sponsors. He makes money. Furthermore, there are NUMEROUS youtubers who make six figures from their videos. For example: sxephil and his other channels, raywilliam johnson, kassemg, michellephan, etc, etc, etc. There are thousands and thousands of people who make primary income from their youtube videos. There is more to the internet than youtube, go learn some shit.

  • @sub7design Oh dear it would seem you've been trolled twice : /

  • Scott, one thing about the IT band is it is fascia, and rolling up and down it can irritate it. So its good just to roll down the it band then restart. and not back and forth. :)

  • i had to use that thing for a groin injury, "ooooohhhh weee them boys hurt"

  • i did this on my crazy sore quads today, hurt so bad

  • Hey Scott, I have to ask something that is really important for my dad..

I'm 14 years old and i want to drink Whey Protein Shakes.

But the problem is that my dad thinks that it's really dangerous and that this is like streoids you know.

I need to say him the trueth answer and I want to say something right..

    So what's the t...ruth??

(ps: i know thats only natural protein etc, but i need a good argument)

  • ; wow. this looks unusually sexual. :p

  • is the goal of this video teaching how to massage youre self or is it how to gain some flexibility?

  • thanks for the video now i cant stop using the roller

  • scot yr gettin a bit puffy lately , sure you eat good and get enough sleep ?

your youthy athletic slimnes seems to be gone

  • For a really good message you need to try the black foam roller (high density). I have found that the blue or red foam rollers tend to collapse too much and don't provide the full resistance I need for release -- especially when I am doing IT bands.

  • gettin your NASM? :D

  • This is totally a blond question .... BUT .... would a noodle like we use in the pool be firm enough to attempt this with ..... or does the hole through the middle just ruin it?

  • @DaveMatthewsSC I'm not the guy in the video, but I can tell you no, there's no way that's going to work. It's going to be way too pliant and soft , you're not going to see any results. The foam roller is specifically designed to have a good size, shape, and firmness to help you massage your muscles. The only other decent replacement would be a tennis ball. But I would definitely recomment getting a roller. ALOT of athletes use it, especially when traveling.

  • Your timing link is wrong for the Calf. It should be 2:42 not 1:42

  • awesome hehe thanks now i can do this everytime after i stretch!!! :) hehe cools

  • If I rolled all over your body I would be good to go forever!

  • can i use a streching mat rolled up together (like one of those yoga mats).????

  • Hey, what is your body fat percentage?

  • heyyy scotttt. scottyyy. scottster. scotty boy. scotty terrier. why's the gym always empty? do you go early morning or late night?

  • SCOTT HERMAN- please do videos of diet tips and recipes, as that is just as important to a healthy body as the workouts thanks!!

  • @tylertyler82 Check outt he facebook page! I have them there!

  • @ScottHermanFitness

    I don't have a facebook account...:-(

  • does this work for chest too? It's usually the tightest part of my body and stretching doesn't seem to do it justice.

  • Is it bad that when i watch this my mouth waters because i think how good this would feel right now?

  • thanks for takin the time and makin this vid i have always wanted to know how to use these things

  • I would like to see fotos of you when you were younger to see how you have progressed and all and get some inspiration from that :D

  • @matteblatte94 He's already got some posted on Facebook! Amazing transformation indeed lol!:o)

  • @abstractjem ah cool, can you send me the links ? he got about 300000000 photos :P

  • Massages can be expensive look for student massage therapists or school clinics, or therapists who do sliding scale. Often you'll find them at 50-80% off the regular price of a massage.

Also in this roller exercises asks you to engage other muscles to release other muscles fascia, that (in my opinion) defeats the purpose of utilizing this for a full body. A well trained massage therapist will also be able tell you if you have any muscle restriction, weakness or poor training posture.

  • @svan0001 alright listen.... the foam roller looks great and ALOT of people dont have the TIME or MONEY to go see a masseuse. So don't knock the foam roller. Lots of people use it with AMAZING results!

  • @ScottHermanFitness Understandable that TIME and MONEY are not always available for everyone, but in order to work out and or get the foam roller that requires TIME and MONEY. The foam roller I have clients who use it and swear by it, it is a great tool but these same clients have also stated; "I've used it today and normally it helps but today it didn't". I also stated it does work for the superficial layers of fascia, but not the deep and visceral layers.

  • @ScottHermanFitness i wouldn't advertise this as a massage, i found it actually helps me lift more cos it releases the skin that covers your muscles. i do it before each weight session. your in f*in good condition btw mate!

  • Please refrain from using the masseuse/ masseur; women/men, who often have no professional schooled training and are often a part of the sex trade industry in massage. Self massages even for therapists are not recommended as one can injury oneself by utilizing too much pressure; chiropractors do not work on themselves for this very reason. This kind of exercise only affects the superficial layers of fascia not the deeper layers.

  • I dont know if its just me but scott!!! your body looks so toned in this vid!

  • great stuff,,,, and hott

  • lol. id skip this. my girl does this for me. awesome vid though.

  • the acuball is best for this- it penetrates tight muscles with acupressure and it actually puts you right to sleep.

  • omg @ 4:55 ... your abs... incredible. Please stop working out so that I can watch your videos without getting distracted by your perfect physique :) ;-)

  • Also, applying a heat pack prior to rolling helps the rate of release

  • Scott, shhhh

  • I CANT GET RID OF LOWER BELLY FAT NO MATTER WHAT I DO? STEROID TIME ???

  • @mchief101 no, see a registered dietitian because that's all that is is diet

  • use the foam roller for your abs thats wat ilike using it for :))

  • did u forget to tell 1st timers that it will be painful? hahaha

but ur video is definitely one of the best foam roll instructional videos out there in youtube-verse and everywhere else....

cheers + keep it up !

  • I've found this works well for me right before a workout or sport, typically near the start of warming-up and before any dynamic stretching. I would emphasize that if someone is doing this for the first time it may seem excruciating, but take heart that it should dissipate slowly. Also to be extra careful to roll up to, but not cross, joints (like the knee) or around areas where the major muscle insertion points might be. So worthwhile once you get the hang of it though!

  • how many pairs of those shorts do you have?

  • im a very active athlete, i imagine this would help me ALOT after a game or practice,m where can i buy one? not online...
