I saw a Chinese movie on TV several weeks ago and surprisingly they played these beautiful Latin based music. One of the songs was My Shawl the theme song of Xavier Cugat.

I guess the movie you saw is called Days of Being Wild. The director is Wong Kar Wai who is thought to be one of the best directors in Asia. That film is actually my favourtie film.

Do You remmeber when Dinah Shore sang with the Xavier Cugat band 1939-1940. She sang the popular songs of th time, Yours, When the Swallows Come back to Capistrano, The breeze and I. He always had such a wonderful band.

Hi, I found my Cugat's CDs out and listened to them again. To be honest I didn't know the name of the singer of When The Swallows Come Back To Capistrano and Breeze And I until you told me. Her voice was amazingly beautiful. I also love a song called "Whatever Happened To You?" Thanks for the comment!

I have a tape Xavier Cugat Adios Muchachos where Dinah Shore sings Yours and The Thrill of a Romance. It could be out on CD. Years I heard Her sing orchids in The Moonlight. Might have been made with the Cugat band.

I will try to check if those songs are available on CD. by the way there are loads of Cugat's music CDs and the songs included in those are not exactly the same. I think it is so difficult to own a definitive collection of his music. haha
