how did woman die from childbirth i those days, was it because the mother was not givin water during the birth, or was it because the heart have out because of the birth.
King henry, does love any of his wives, any, the only thing he wanted was a son,but he didnt love her for real,he apreaciate her which is way differentt than loving someone.King henry wasnt in love with her for real, because he pushed the laday while she was pregnant, and put her life twice and danger.
According to documentaries I've seen, Henry was of a much gentler nature as a young man. As he grew older & of course more obese, it seems his moods became more volatile. Considering also the leg wound that refused to heal, sure seems he may have definitely suffered from IDDM. The diagnosis seems to fit. I've heard this theory & it seems plausible to me. Not that he wasn't somewhat of a d*ck of course too but his health problems would have made him more foul tempered. lol
Did Henry Love her more Generally or just because she gave him a son? I've always wondered this. If she hadn't have given him a son, and had have survived would he still love her more than the others or would she have the same fate as Anne?
@LilyHepburn That topic is an endless debate. I read it somewhere that Henry doubted his ability in siring a new heir being approx 45yrs old with a stinking leg injury. However, if Jane failed, I think Henry's most likely to divorce her due to her inclination to peace (a wise survival tatic on her part) & I bet she would wholeheartedly go to a nunnery instead of the chopping block. Edward's birth was a 100% booster cuz it solved the succession problem.
@LilyHepburn I think Henry would love her generally more than the previous 2 wives because 1stly, she was born & bred as an Englishwoman. 2ndly, her Catholic beliefs & support for the Princess/Lady Mary made her more favourable with Spain, the most powerful country at that time. And lastly, based on Henry's morbid point of view, his marriage to Jane was done "with a clean conscience".
@LilyHepburn Difficult question. I think he loved her more because the marriage was short producing a son who crucially outlived Henry. She died giving that son. But Henry had passionately loved both Catherine and Anne, spending over a decade in a relationship with both of them. I think he loved her most because he still loved her when she died. She also had the good sense not to argue with henry and backed down quickly so did not enrage him. Had she lived she would have been secure.
@LilyHepburn I think it was also partly to do with how suprised he was that her death affected him so much. I think historians often parallel it to the guilt he felt over Catherine of aragorn, her death struck him so much because he had no power over it. I also think his affair was much genuine not unlike catherine of aragorn but anyway it makes a good story either way !
@LilyHepburn I think the king's idea of a true wife of a king was one who bears him a son so to him he felt he did love her truely and as for the ones who didn't give him children he felt they never loved him properly that's why he jusitfies getting rid of them. So in order to answer your question I think he did genuinely love her but it may have gone sour if she had not given him a son due to what he expected the wife of a king to do

She did speak up against at one point, but a lot quieter than this. He did not strike her, but did remind her about the fate of his last wife who spoke up too often.
Well was Henry in her death bed or not Jane was his most beloved wife and Henrys unwilingnes to take another wife after her and the fact that hi was burried beside her proofs that she was the most beloved wife from all the six :) It is just shame that she died so early :(

@priestessmikokikyo77 Childbed fever was very common due to a lack of hygiene in those days.

You can't have everything in life. He gets the son but loses the wife.

I don't think Henry would have been as foolish to have hit Jane whilst she was pregnant.
malicant123 1 year ago
This is probably historically inaccurate, there was no evidence to suggest that Henry was at Jane's deathbed
