This was the best graphics game of the time! I was in awe everytime I played it. Beat it several times. I remember getting it day 1 and they actually ran out because of the demand! Thanks for this review, id still play it today!

just got the game, and i gotta say, playing mostly sidescrolling mario, the controls are way to slippery. the kongs seem way too sensitive when holding y, and when not i seem to juuuust miss that jump. whole game so far feels like im on ice and i don't know how to save yet, and its frustrating me doing the same levels over and over and over again....hopefully it gets better and you get used to it...also the hit detection isn't worth beans

Best platformer on the SNES. This revolutionized platforming adventures. I'm not just talking about with graphics, I also mean with music and stage variety. Jungles, caves, oceans, mines, temples, forests, old treetop villages, and factories. All that, in one game.

It's ironic that clay graphics don't look that great today while other

games with sprite based graphics look amazing even by today's standards.

Actually the manual says diddy kong is donkey kongs nephew. Heres what I would say, not saying Im right but heres wat i beleive. Donkeykong = Crankys son, diddy = crankys grandson, and donkeys nephew, dixie = diddy kongs girlfreind, kiddie = ..IDK, tiny = dixies sister, chunky = kiddies brother, candy = donkey kongs girlfriend, and funkey kong... IDK, I got most of that stuff from manuals, but other than that thats just the kong tree Im gonna go with...

I did play the game before, just because people can't pronounce stuff correct all the time, doesn't mean they haven't played it. For your info I have a dissability & ADD. @kNIGHTWING01 I've noticed that amongst early nintendo gamers everyone has different pronunciations and definitions for everything. Some read the instruction booklets and could not pronounce the names and others seeemed to come up with their own names. My brother and I had completely different terminology for nintendo items/characters than my wife and her siblings.

the snowlvl has an easy trick to be ebaten .. there is a secret barrel when all the many barrels start you can jump in the first and shoot yourself .uhm ... northeast way and if your lucky you get under one barrel where then awaits you another barrel which shoots you to the end of the stage ^^

the only bad things you have to say about this game is that two hardest levels in the game suck? wtf 1 the snow level has a shortcut that skips over 3/4 of the barrels at the end if you shoot yourself down at the right spot and 2 the level with the fuel is one of the very last levels it should be really hard.

As a matter of fact, I never recall the series NOT being consistent in terms of relationships except in spin off games, such as SSBB. You only gave one example of their being controversy, and that was Nintendo claiming Cranky was DK's grandson, again in a spin off title. Everything else you said was just you saying "It's inconsistent" without providing more examples. Besides, multiple sources like the manual say he's the nephew.

Not to sound like a nitpicking jerk, but I think it's important to note that this game is not a 3D game. You indeed mentioned that the game uses pre-rendered sprites that were taken from advanced 3D models. But the game itself is 100% 2D.

Anyway, I also like the water levels so much. When I was a kid I always used to relax at the music of the underwater levels in both Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land (for the Game Boy). Good times.

How auto save? Press home button, then exit back to the Wii menu. If you did it right, next time you play the game, it will bring back to last place you pressed the Wii menu in the game.
