Shame it's only a replica would love to see HMS victory sea worthy seen a black and white photo of her in the middle of a harbour not moored up shame i doubt that'le ever happen again =/ and now they might be selling her to a private owner because she costs too much to maintain... which is complete and utter b*******t

I would like to remind you that the HMS Victory is over 150 years old, so it does cost alot to maintain.

She's only about 5% original now.

It still must cost huge amounts to keep up.

Plus the continuing refurbishment over the years that often leaves her like the Forth Bridge - never complete. She looks like she's in intensive care already, what with all the cables and pipes restraining her to the dry dock.

Given that she's supposed to be the flagship of the Royal Navy how could she be put out to private tender? If they do that to the Victory, what's stopping them doing the same to the Battle of Britian Memorial Flight and Red Arrows of the RAF?

Well, you've got to remember that the government are paying out for the entire of Portsmouth Historical Dockyard, which you can tell on admission fee is not cheap.

They've managed to screw that up, too. They've sterlised it just like English Heritage have turned castles into nothing more than bowling greens. They've last the character. I remember Pompey Navy Days back when there was a Royal Navy and the bootknecks were still in Eastney Barracks. Now both the dockyard and the barracks are open for business 9-5.

Ja, Svenska ostindiefararen Göteborg, Som seglade runt Världen förut i mitten av 1700 talet.. Om jag minns rätt.

Den förde med sig exotiska varor till Sverige.

Förra året så åkte en Kopia av den runt Jorden, på samma ställen som den riktiga gjorde under 1700 talet.

Nja, vi blev väl trötta på sjön efter vikingatiden ;)

Men vi hade ju våran del utav Usa ett tag. Annars var det mest handel som lockade. Den sjönk ju tyvärr vid hamnen med en hel del asitatiskt gods i sig.

Ursäkta, men jag var bara tvungen att lägga in en liten kommentar... Under 1600-talet så var Sverige en av världens största sjöfartsnationer och vi tävlade med länder som Holland, Frankrike, England och Danmark. Några av dåtidens bästa skeppsbyggare inhystes i landet och gav oss Skepp som Vasa och Kronan... Dock med blandat resultat, men de var båda två de största skeppen i VÄRLDEN när de byggdes... Coolt va? ;)

Det har funnits ungefär 130st Ostindiefarare i Svenska Ostindiska Compagniets regi från ca 1730-1740 och frammåt. Götheborg III som ses på videon ovan är inte en kopia, utan snarare och mix av en rad olika ostindiefarare, dock var det väl fyndet av Götheborg II vid hunnebådan utanför göteborgs hamn som satte fart på byggandet. Ostindiefararna seglade uteslutande på Kanton i kina.
