If I were to have any one single skill, I would still pick Boxing. Most martial artists, especially Bruce Lee have the utmost respect for Boxing. I must say though, most guys I know who have boxed have had their nose splattered more than once.
the problem with any martial arts fan is that 90% arent far off from being monster truck fans, and the only way to really appreciate it is by looking at it threw the eyes of a fighter not a fan.
I actually met Joe Lewis in person. He did a seminar at the karate school I was in. Joe Lewis has the fastest snap in a mid side kick I have ever seen. He side kicked me through my chest gear and let me tell you that really hurt bad. His punches are really fast as well. He is one of the funniest guys I have ever met. If you get a chance go to one of his seminars they are really informative and great fun. Just don't let him side kick you you will regret it. LOL
comon do you guys think muay thai is a sport wich are the fuking best?
its the fighter who do something not the martial dudes and if you say a muay thai fighter would destroy joe or someone just shut up thai boxers dont know side kicks or back kiks they are only konfigured on clinch than knee or ellbow and front kiks thats all they dont use there body 2 avoid like in boxing or sikekis or hook kiks or some shit dont say muay thai would dominate kickboxing ...
Muay Thai is great and all, but what traditional Kung Fu and Karate have to offer is great power, skill, speed and agility even well into an advanced age. A Thai boxer retires by the time he is 24 sometimes. Muay Thai is a bit overrated just as MMA is, nobody who is a real martial artist would try to put traditional martial arts down.
PPL who don't kno history should keep there mouths closed. Both of these fighter have crossed trained in more then one art. Joe Lewis founded american kickboxing which is used as the striking art by many UFC and MMA guys today. Bill Wallace fight record was 23-0 with 13 knock outs, his kick was one time recorded at 60mph... these guys are wat paved the way for thing like the UFC.

Wa;;ace. Bill, so amazing caz he fights with ONE leg only...Never in history has anyone been able to do the same. Joe lewis seems to have love pain as he gives it in return...They fight to the end at unbelieveable age! Edmondo ( etsonggalaxy)
k1 is much better...especially in the time of andy hug, crocop, peter aerts...I know they are legend in America but it looks like they are hesitant to throw anything
I've met and trained with "superfoot" on a number of occasions at his seminars and related Martial Arts events since 05'. He's faster with both hands and foot if you will than many and very flexible still. To see him walk -if you did'nt know who he was , you'd think he was a old cowboy or some broken bow legged man who could do nothing. But like the old Chinese man who defeats a young warrior, so it would be. he is a great guy. I respect him And Joe Lewis but I've never met lewis.Peace,Acts2:38
These are the original pioneers of Kickboxing. The name was created because of Joe Lewis. Muay thai fighters of the 60's 70's didn't know much about Boxing and the kind of kicking that was developed by these fighters They were ahead of their time and layed the groundwork for modern Martial arts. The thing thats really lacking today in martial arts is respect and humility. These two fighters are respectful and positive role models.

Most all PKA fighter got there ass kick by muay thai fighters including Benny, Don the dragon est. point karate is just what it states for points not to destroy your apon not much power involve! All karate fighters and kung fu fighter were destroyed in one round when they challenge thai land. go to the (belt is in the ring)
Let me know just one thai fighter who's training and fighting beeing aged 60 years, nobody. They just destroy themself. If Bill'd fight a thai-boxer, he would just deliver one or two side kicks and the business would be finished.
What's the point of saying that, geek? Boxers too might have trouble fighting against Thai boxers, but no one would say boxing sucks. Also, for the record, people like Don Wilson, Dale Cook, and Manson Gibson defeated at least a couple of Thai boxers. Though they never claimed the superiority of their sport and they just did it for money. I do practice muay thai, but have been sick and tired of those who putting down other fighting disciplines.
@legkicker01 "...sick and tired of those puttng down other fighting disciplines"
Thank you. The martial arts world needs more like you. I am a black sash in Kung Fu, and whenever I read Inside Kung Fu or Black Belt Magazine these days it seems like everyone is all too happy to put someone else down. We are all part of the same fighting family; we all need to start acting like it. The martial arts community only hurts itself when it bickers internally
My pleasure. I've found that way too many people have claimed the superiority of their chosen systems just because there have been champions who successfully used the same systems in the ring. Unfortunately, fighting has always been an individual matter. You won't be protected by those known champions who train in the same systems. That's why we train for "self-defense." What works for one individual is not necessarily good for others.
The only videos of Benny the jet fighting that I've seen are ones where he was beating a thai boxer. Traditional thai boxers don't know how to deal with jabs and aren't used to getting hit with sidekicks.
Yeah I know they're MMA fighters, but what I mean is that their base style is Karate. GSP for instance, he has Karate as BASE, but later on he learned grappling, BJJ etc.
@u31117416 karate isnt a base for anyone except machida at the elite level.Doing karate as a youth doesnt mean its your base. For striking gsp uses boxing and thai, maybe the odd bit of flash from kyokushin, thats it.I had 17 years tkd, when I eventually fought thai and mma,i never used it unless the opponent was poor.
@238lon yo where you been, im taking all shorts of abuse, for saying poit karate was weak,PKA was weak to watered down KB garbage, it failed badly with clowns like joe corly- jt-will reffing almost every FT.8 kicks per rd.imo urquidez-wilson-roufus were the best to come out of that era late70's-90's..wallce -lewis were great point fighters , differant game
@238lon 1. American Kick Boxing/Sport Karate is a completely different animal from Karate for self defense, which is it's main purpose to begin with. Plus American Kick Boxing rules don't allow knees, elbows, or takedowns like Muay Thai does. You get used to fighting that way, and it's hard to start incorporating stuff you're not used to using. 2. There's a reason that nearly all the top fighters, with few exceptions, in the UFC with almost completely undefeated records, are Karate fighters.
@238lon Were do u get ur information? The Movie Kick Boxer? lol... I trained back in 1975 and I fought many Tai Boxers and they are no better or wores than anyone else!
Love these 'tards who say "Wallace couldn't handle Muay Thai or MMA." Who cares? Wallace trained specifically for his game, which was the PKA rule set (no leg kicks, no takedowns). And he trained damn hard too, often up to six hours a day PLUS teaching seminars on top of that. Let's see any of today's Muay Thai or MMA "stars" do the same. At least none of you keyboard warriors can say any MT or MMA fighters can kick like Bill. No-one can.
Do any of you keyboard warriors actually train in a Martial Art? Always comparing styles, such bullshit, these guys were competing at 45 and 46,they deserve respect for that don't they?
I bet most of u commenters have never been in a competiton of any sort, so shut the fuck up u people annoy me!
I agree. Their all over the net talking crap and I bet they only taken a month of classes if any! But this is a great vid with two legends going at it.The Best!
No he trained in karate as well as with Bruce Lee. He has also trained with world class boxers. All the stles that he has studied have always favored their hands.
These were the "Open-style karate" champs first and later full contact fighters...but methods have evolved since those days...had they trained the way modern fighters do now, they would have been ok....maybe.
I see that my salient comment has upset you legkicker...I did like the clip..It was funny to watch and painful as well. If BILL HAD FOUGHT A MUAY THAI ARTIST EVEN AT THE SAME AGE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN HUMILIATED. SAD TO SAY BUT TRUE, AMERICANS HAVE A BAD HABIT OF EXAGERATING THEIR OWN ABILITIES FOR PROFIT..RELAX LEGKICKER AND GET REAL.
This is the clip of full-contact karate, not muay thai. Thus, its participants do not have to deal with the muay thai leg kicks. I too believe that Wallace would have had a serious trouble against a solid leg kicker. But what's the point of saying that? It's like saying a boxer can't fight well in MMA, or martial arts has no use against guns. We all know that. It doesn't create anything new. We shouldn't compare an apple to a orange.
Joe Lewis's corner is not John Graden, it's his brother Jim. FYI, Joe Lewis and Walt Bone were John Graden's instructors. Mark Graden is the other brother who's an excellent fighter as well.
If I were to have any one single skill, I would still pick Boxing. Most martial artists, especially Bruce Lee have the utmost respect for Boxing. I must say though, most guys I know who have boxed have had their nose splattered more than once.
