The Pontiac 6000 is a cool looking car, my favorite version from all the divisions.
I'd be really surprised if that transmission was replaced. That's a THM-125C, which is known for it's build quality. 65k should be nothing to that transmission unless something incredible happened to it. The pan on those is always pretty shiny looking, even when they're old.
That 3rd brake light must be a modification, those weren't required until 1986.
@owenlful there is nothing wrong with it my worker drives it everyday we replaced power steering and a few parts its tip top and ready to go he has it for sale for $2900 you definatly wont find a lower mile one just a great runner Nathan 406 544 6919
@shurikenstar Sorry, brainfart, that's the engine, duur. Oh me. Yeah, the weight of the car and the size of the engine make all the difference. I loved the power this car gave me, but I cringe when I see that gas I just bought disappear.
@shurikenstar I see it's been 2 months since your comment, but in case you still have it:
I'd try replacing the oxygen sensor. I replaced it on a Fiero (same engine) and it only cost $25 w/ shipping. Mileage improved 10%. That's mild, some people get a much bigger gain, it depends how worn out the old one is. The O2 sensor gradually gets worse with age and that hurts mileage. You won't get a check engine light unless it completely dies. It's cheap so it's a good thing to replace every 20k or so.
buick & olds had one too, the century & the cutlass ciera. The Olds & the pontiac looked slightly different than the buick & the chevy. The platform is the A-Body.
You got to love these GM A-Body cars, because of it's roominess and fuel efficency, man what can you go wrong?

I should also add, you can tell someone elderly owned it, judging by all of the scuff marks on the corners. Nice to see one rust free.
