Not entirely surprised to see this (the few times I've seen mewy pumas in captivity was around feeding time--in this case, at a legitimate zoo). I AM surprised she's this vocal though :D
All these animals were seized by the state from people who thought they could make them pets. The state provides no funds for their care, the man who runs this relies on donations. He owns quite a bit of property and is working to expand thehabitats for each big cat.
Animal captivity makes me sad :(. And what's even worse is that, as someone mentioned in this video, one or all of these cats is declawed. Also, at 15 seconds that guy asks "that's a tiger right?" lol
Yeah she could probably never be free since she most likely couldn't survive. She is safe I bet, however, since from the description this sounds like a place that rescues the cats from unsafe conditions.
That's a cute video though! I'm sure she gets her food soon enough after her neighbors have their turn. :)
No, not if what I heard mentioned in the video about her being declawed....God, how cruel! It's bad enough to do this to a domestic cat but to perform such a painful crippling procedure on an animal as magnificent as this is out and out torture.
I've heard of owners actually taking tigers' and lions' canines out so that they would be "tame" enough to have pictures made with them and other b.s. such as that. That's pretty hideous, but it happens.
Some people set up canned hunts with big cats who have been declawed and all their teeth removed so the dogs have no danger. They let them out in a n enclosed space and then set a pack of dogs after them and let the catch thm and pin them down and sometimes they let the dogs kill them, too. Usually the "hunter" does that him/herself though...
@oakleafwyng You talk like its okay. That is a horrific thing to do to these animals. Canned hunts in the U.S is illegal but I'm sure it still happens.
@maxeythecat Haha I know your comment on the mountain lions is 2 years old but you're the only person I agreed with. Declawing those cats was just plain wrong, my grandmother had her Siamese declawed I don't know whether the vet didn't know what he was doing or what but the cat had serious pain in its feet for the rest of his life. Also I don't agree with these animals being kept in these cages. They should be in a decent wild life sanctuary,

Feed the damn cat already!
How can you carry on with that inane dialogue when you know the cat is asking for food and is obviously hungry?

Poor kitty, I wish she could live with someone in their house, like in other cougar owner's videos on youtube.

Yeah people can be very selfish and cruel. Declawing is actually outright illegal in some countries, as I'm sure the other stuff is.
As if the animal couldn't rip you to shreds anyway even after such cruelty!
zunnoab 3 years ago
A cat without claws or canines is not a cat!
There has to be much more give and less take with a pet wildcat.
