  • do you have any neighbours on top of your apartment? I think my roof(my neighbours floor) is about 15cm thick. I dont know if I will be able to do this...

  • @Alemaxus Yes there are people living above me. 15cm is more than enough, you'll probably need around 5 anyways. Good luck! :)

  • Oh, the steel in reinforced concrete is there because concrete is strong in compression but weak in tension. So that concrete can be used in tension, like as a floor, steel is used to 'pull' inside the concrete so that it is already in compression and can take a tension load. Trivia, sorry.

  • '...you really don't want to install your head in the floor.' All too true. Thanks for this sensible video and for taking the trouble to do in English. I might be doing this soon in my house.

  • I just tried to drill holes to the ceiling with a normal drill machine. I was able to get about 1-2cm holes but then couldn't go through it anymore and I don't think it is those metal lines because I did 3 holse lol.

But anyways, how long did it take to drill those holes to baton? And how was your drilling machine?

  • @Kratoni It did take less than a minute for both of them. I used a Bosch drilling machine. I am sorry to hear you couldn't succeed with it!

  • hey mate,

thanks to your video I have finally managed to hang my rings from the celling of my room,

    but there's still a small issue ...

I bought some carabiners from a DIY store, there are pretty solid but the shape does not fit well with the straps, I mean the shape of yours are just perfect : wide angle at the bottom (to and close angle at the top.

    So my question is :

where did you buy your climbing buckle ? I need the same shape but with a limited thickness, inferior to 14mm ...

  • @genericnme Hello! Go to a rock-climbing shop they have exactly what you need! :)

  • @closetoimpossible

Alright, I will try to find one thanks =)

Otherwise, I figured out an other solution :

a small but resistant climbing rope attached to the hook from the celling and a carabiner to make the link between the rope and the strap.

By the way, I think it may be better this way, for the lifetime's hook because of a softer bond if you know what I mean (steel against steel might not be a very good idea in the long term), besides the rings movements may be also smoother ...

  • @genericnme Good point! But you'll have to check that link every once in a while if it's not getting worn out. :)

  • @closetoimpossible

Yep sometimes ... there are some good climbing knots or fisherman knots that I'm thinking about, I hope it will last for a long time.

  • Steel bars? Switch the masonary drill for a high speed steel bit!

  • my ceiling would tear apart with that, what i did was i have a doorway pull up bar, and i made some rings out of PVC and hung it onto the bar, not the best setup but you gotta work with what you got.

  • @DawgFL Exactly, freedom within limits!

  • @DawgFL But isn't training in a door way kind of limiting? Just asking cause I have the same problem as you and it's really annoying :@

  • only problem is, if you don't have concrete ceilings :P

  • @GA101 What's your type of a ceiling? Let me see if I can help with an idea. :)

  • @closetoimpossible Plasterboard, my mortal enemy :P

Only way I can think of is, to work out where the ceiling joists are and drill it into that.

Though I might have to check with my landlord first, don't think they'd be too happy about me drilling holes all over the ceiling haha :P Great video as always may I add :)

  • @GA101 Ahahaha, thank you! Reminds me of my friend who did 8 holes on the ceiling in his room and he said he manged to hit steel bars on all 8 attempts. His ceiling looked like swiss cheese and guess what....he didn't ask his landlord for permission, LOL!

  • great video

  • Nice, this is very helpful, specially for the "troubleshooting section" :) Just kidding. I'm definitely trying this.

  • This is exactly the setup that I've had in my room for a couple of years :)

  • @nanquan491 How about nowadays?

  • @closetoimpossible Oh sorry, I should have written "in the last couple of years" lol... it's still the same, and still holds very well!

  • @nanquan491 I thought so, nothing beats the rings! Although I'd love having a rope to climb as well but oh well, too low lol. :)

  • @closetoimpossible haha my feelings exactly!! Rope is so awesome for wrist strength development!! That's the one thing in my home gym that's missing!
