@donlaxner What an ignorant statement. The Council of Nicea did not even DISCUSS the Canon of the Bible. The Bible as we have it now existed PRIOR to the Council of Nicea. You can read the documents of Nicea very easily. Only someone with a hatred of Christianity and supremely ignorant of history (and too lazy to research) would make such a claim.

On that note, check out this short book, written by the Pope and Marcello Pera called, "Without Roots: The West, Relativism, Christianity, Islam." It discusses this very issue.
Can you recommend some books on Western Civ ? I like to know what went on in those days.
Specifically, I like to know why the Church convinced Theodocius to make the Roman Catholic Religion the empire's Official Religion ?

@donlaxner Actually, Constantine's version of the bible was as old as first century AD. Gnostic Gospels appeared afterwards, after 100AD.

I think The Pope himself said in one of his speeches that Europe was denying his true roots and origins by letting Islam advance over Christianity.
