i like Death Magnetic Metallica but the black album was a great album but they changed there sound a little bit and Load-St. Anger was to far i miss old Metallica but i believe if Cliff would have never died Metallica wouldnt have changed there sound

In kill 'em all he was always drunk, St. anger he never drank. And you realize how much slower lars plays the drums in St. Anger compared to Kill 'em all?

Metallica has always changed over they years, they went form full on speed metal (K'mA) to Thrash(RtL,MoP) to Progressive(..AJfA) to Metal to HardRock to Alternative, now back to thrash....it has nothing to do with liquor!! be serious..they've always been ahead of the curve, that's how they stay relevant to this day!

And btw Saint and DM are probably Lars's best works. :|

@juv3ntin First of all, metallica was never speed metal, why do you think when they talk about slayer, theyre like "nah well never be like them...thats to fast." Dude its true about the alcohol thing...Did you not watch the Some Kind of Monster movie? He explains there how alcohol affected him wen he picked up the guitar after rehab. And actually i would not agree with you saying that Saint and DM are his best works cause all albums are different and theyre all amazing in so many different ways.

@juv3ntin wtf. kill 'em all was the album that was most Thrash, ride the lightning was a bit heavier and slower, master of puppets is even more heavier, and AJFA is like MoP but MoP is their master piece. and metallica have never been speed metal, metallica, exodus and slayer (megadeth came later since mustaine was in metallica) created Thrash in the san fransisco bay area. if you want speed metal, go and litsen to dragonforce

Ok, I'm going to say this just once..because this is getting extremely boring...

K'mA is a thrash/speed metal album. All the bay area bands are pioneers of Speed Metal.

Ride, Master, Justice are full on Thrash Metal. (with a little # Justice being a pioneering early, early ancestor of progressive metal)

Black is a Heavy Metal album, and Load--reload hard rock/heavy metal...and so on.

I can write a history book about Metallica. Trust me, I know my stuff really well...

Exodus has never been given the credit of being one of the big 5..i donno why really., but they are not seen as a equal with the other 4 bands.

ow, and another thing DragonFace...is not speed, they are power metal. a derivative of Speed. ( venom, for ex, are speed)

@MetallicaA9595 i think bob rock had a lot to do with changing them to, he really tried to control them, rick rubin didnt do that he just told them to do what they wanted, the only thing e told them was to kinda go back into their 80's mindset, even though i dont like the way rick produced death magnetic cause the production is crap i do like him for not trying to control them

@MetallicaA9595 Sorry, but I dont know if you know that it was Cliff Burton the one who convinced the other members to hear more music, not just NWOBHM. One of Cliffs favourite bands was REM. He opened ´tallica`s mind to new type of music, and that might be one of the facts that contributed in Metallicas "World domination".
