The titles of melee moves simply changed, not the moves themselves.

You can still perform a Beat Down if you melee someone in the back (it's still an instant kill), you'll only get an Assassination if you hold the melee button down while you do it (the same effect, only a delayed animation).

What Halo 1 called Beat Downs, Halo Reach now calls Pummels.
