Some of the shots were especially beautiful, such as the last close up shot, and the shot where he hangs himself with the perspective a little oblique and lights playing behind him.
hi, i had seen this a long time ago and its really good, then now I have just finished my shortfilm shot in a green screen studio. Please visit my channel to see the trailer. The name of the movie is -escape from the deep antarctic-
Thats awesome. Its really something I wanna aspire to. What did you use to design the backgrounds before you imported them into after effects? Did you use any 3D rendering software to create the smashing glass effect? Overall very good.
thanks flatbadger, I did some adjustments to the background images (they are all 2d images) in photoshop before importing, then also some adjustments in after effects when they were 3d layers. Were it not for the intense sepia grading I would have had to do a LOT more adjusting of images to make them intergrate visually into the scene. I used 3ds Max to make the breaking glass and imported that layer with its alpha channel into AE. cheers, josef.
Smart to give it an almost black and white tone to cover up the green screen look. Looks interesting. Does the trailer give away the whole story or is there quite a bit more to this. You should post the whole video
so sick... i take it you are inspired by tim burtons work;) who better to be inspired by then the man himself;) excellent work man!! impressive camera work and amazing afetr effects work!!
Thx absorb. yeh the hvx is a great camera. You can check out a music video we recently shot with it. Youtube wont let me post a link but just type "MOMENTUS FILM CLIP JUMBLEDAT" into google and it will be at the top.
The BGs were created using 2D images placed and manipulated in After Effects as 3D layers.
First of all, great job. Really impressive work! And yes, you should totally make an actual film out of it. I was really intrigued by the story and the cinematography was very well done. You've got me all kinds of excited too as I have the hvx200 and plan on building myself a greenscreen over the next couple of days. I'm curious... What did you use to create the backgrounds?
that was awesome! did you use any additional lighting on mervin during shooting? the first shot is an illegal chess move by the way, but i guess its ok cause the guy's nuts anyway :)
Hey khindrik, thx for the kind words...not really sure what you mean by "additional lighting"? It was lit using a lighting grid above the green screen studio, mostly large kinoflo lights. The lightening was all done in after effects, and all the environments were lit using 3D layes and lights in AE also.
Great video keep up the good work.

Would love to see more of your work.
