  • This reminds me of The Red Hall

  • I like how the bass player Garry and the Pacemakers does it as compared to Paul. It's clearer and busier. But I like the rest of the Beatles instrumentation and vocals more than Gary and the Pacemakers version.

  • It's "cool" to say today that Beatles were "overrated?" What circles do you move in? Retarded cretins?

  • It was a formula song. It sounded like the pop songs of the time but it lacked edge. Love Me Do, though as sappy as the title sounds wasn't the puppy love song of How Do You Do It, though the sexual connotation ( I'd do it to you) was gutsy. Still a well done recording and a great song.

  • davvero carina..............anzi cool

  • Now days it's cool to say the Beatles were overrated. Hell, if anything, they were even better than we thought they were back then. Take out all the popular stuff they did that got overplayed on the radio and there's a lot of great music still.

  • I'll be danged..for the last */?@! years I thought only the Pacemakers did this..To be honest..I wouldn't have bought the 45 disc..But I did buy the Pacemakers album...no one can do it like Gerry

  • @nicknorthable : You're quite right about Gerry Marsden. The Beatles actually hated this number, but Geo. Martin insisted they record it, as he knew it was a hit (he was right). I'm impressed that as much as they disliked it, they did a good, professional job on it.

  • Herman´s Hermits cool song sung by the BEST group ever!!!

  • @tuamigamoni

    Gerry and The Pacemakers actually....

  • @silvanski Of course!! how could I be sooo stupid? lol thanks for clearifying for me. ;-)

  • i wish i was just below 20

  • THUMBS UP IF- SHUT THE FUCK UP

the beatles are great and it doesnt fucking matter what year we are watching them in. all that matters is that we are still listening to them

  • God. This is a great song. WOW.

  • in 1962 were they going somewhere? like were they already making songs, because i know john and george got their free acoustic gibson in 62' but were they famous in 1962?

  • @nightcrawler511 In 1962, The Beatles had a strong local following in Liverpool and another in Hamburg. Their first single "Love me do" made it to about #20 on the English charts in the fall of 1962. The Gibsons in '62 were not free - Brian paid for them, but the music shop and Brian worked together to make it a liverpool publicity thing..

The Beatles were doing pretty good for a working band in 1962, but they weren't big stars yet. Beatlemania hit England in '63 and the US in '64.

  • john.... <3

  • Nobody cares about the age just say i love the beatles :D

  • im 87 and i still think the best are the best band ever!!!

  • George Martin was pushing them to record this, he was sure it was a #1 hit.. They balked at this - they wanted to record one of their songs. Martin persisted and they finally gave in, You can hear how much they disliked the song. They sound bored, and their performance lacks the energy and enthusiasm that was such a vital part of their style and sound. Martin gave it instead to another new group from Liverpool, Gerry and The Pacemakers. It quickly shot to #1 on the charts, just as he predicted!

  • Gerry and the pacemakers definetly did this better

  • @oldiesmaster101 BULL-HOCKEY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the Beatles but Herman's Hermit's did it better, too much bubble gum for the Beatles, that's all, just not a Beatles song.

  • This is the song they threw away.

  • /watch?v=r6p_ZGpOwWE

  • i recommend you all listen to the ladybugs playing this song, that is also an amazing cover

  • Ya know, they can take any song, play it the ' Beatle way' & it sounds better.LOL!!!

  • This was exactly 39 years and 8 days ago. :l

  • 0:32 aww :( poor georgie has a black eye. :3 <333

  • @FlyingSQUIRRILLLS Good catch! The black eye came from a Pete Best fan. They were upset that Pete was ousted and Ringo put in.. George was only 19 years old when this was recorded (born 2/25/43)!

  • Ringo looks silly in most of his pictures. That's why he's my favorite beatle :)

  • And it's almost 49 years old!

  • So sweet song :D

  • Sweet they recorded these songs on my birthday

  • Fab! Thanks for this one.

  • lol john&paul said they wouldnt release this song on the album beacause they couldent return to liverpool knowing they sang this...gosh i love them

  • They're not even trying here & they STILL beat the crap out of Gerry & the Pacemakers :-)

  • <3 Ahh I love early beatles stuff! Wait, I like all beatles stuff :L

  • Whos on drums?

    Andy White?

  • @harpo103 I think its Ringo. The Beatles Bible says it. The fills sound so Ringo to me.

  • 6 People dont know how to do it...

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this in 1791.

  • This has such a buddy holly vibe haha.

  • John's voice was simply a stunning gift to this world.

  • thumbs up if you don't care what year it is and don't care how old you are and know that the Beatles are timeless.

  • thumbs up if you watched this in 2036 because you're a time traveller

  • Besides being great writers, the Beatles were great performers. I think Buddy Holly is a rock icon, but listen to him doing his own song" words of love" and then listen to the Beatles. they make it THEIR song.

  • @bobbollu The same could be said of any other cover song the Beatles did, whether in concert or in a recording session.

  • @altfactor yes I agree. The only group to be the equal of the Beatles in my humble opinion, on a song the other group wrote was Twist and Shout. I think the Beatles do an awesome version and the Isley Brothers do an awesome version. what do you think?

  • Thumbs up if you watched and listened on this video at 1523 and you're 3 and below.

  • The Beatles definitely did the right thing rejecting this song - or else they'd have got stuck on the treadmill of doing other people's work chosen my record company execs. And even though the song they recorded instead (love me do) didn't chart very high, while Gerry & The Pacemakers version of this song went to number one, by standing up for themselves, The Beatles showed even then, as kids without a label, that they had the self-confidence and strength to do great things.

  • I made a YouTube just to comment on this video and say although this isn't their song, The Beatles blow me away in every single way. Their music brings joy and happiness to the world. all they wanted is peace and when I listen to the Beatles all I can do is be happy, The Beatles never fail to amaze me, they are all perfect in everyway. Their voices and musical talent is mind blowing. I love The Beatles!

  • This is a FANTSTIC video, well done with the clips and high quality visual and sound!

  • Who disliked this?

  • I was born that day!

  • Wow, never knew they recorded this

  • the only prior version i heard of this song was by Freddy and the Dreamers ("i'm telling you now") ...... and they did an OK job.

  • @frizzlefrap actually it was Gerry and the Pacemakers. The Beatles were offered this song and said they wanted to release Love Me Do instead so the song was given to Gerry and was number One

  • @bobbollu no it was George Martin who turned down this song not The Beatles themselves cause George knew it would be a failed record :/

  • @kenco124 I beg to differ. the Beatles didn't write this song so it was never them that suggested doing it. George Martin knew it would be a hit and guess what? It was! for Gerry and the Pacemakers the Beatles wanted to record their own song "Love me do" so george martin reworked that song with them and the rest is history.

  • Good tune, but you can tell the Beatles haven't written it - it's just not as good as their music. Their voices are lovely on this recording, all the same! :D

  • I like this cover, even though John didn't. Gerry and the Pacemakers did a decent version. John does a funny joke voice for this song when he discussed his aversion for it in an interview.

  • It's weird to me that I am so attracted to all of them.

  • @fsanf164 me too! LOL

  • @fsanf164 that's not wierd, that's a symptom of being a beatlesmaniac. once you have it, it will NEVER GO AWAY. teehee!

  • @Msemospongebob i have been a Beatlemanic since they came out in 1964 to America and have never

looked back. Danced to a Beatle song at my daughter's wedding

  • @bobbollu awesome. the masses are rising... the Beatles are comin back! (not that they ever left, but...) :D

  • oooh lala...

  • Thumbs up if you watched and listened on this video at 2011 and you're 20 and below.

  • @13jeci 12!!

  • @ripitup325

good for you.. you appreciated true song at an early age :)

  • @13jeci I'm only ten!!! ^_^"

  • @pikagirl01

nice one sweety! did your music teacher told you to listen to this song and appreciate it? kidding!

  • @13jeci :D

  • @pikagirl01 you are a smart girl to already know how good the Beatles are at age ten!

  • @bobbollu Thank you! I love them so much! They're gorgous, and they all hve such emotion in their voices! Especially Georgie, Johnie and Paulie^^

  • @13jeci 13 :D

  • @13jeci I'm the strangest one of the bunch, I went to a live show of a tribute band to the beatles, and I noticed that they misplaced lyrics here and there in some songs.

  • @13jeci im 15..YEAH!!!

  • man i wish they made this apart of one of their albums 4 people dont know how to do it

  • man i wish they made this apart of one of their albums

  • @PanaceaSJBR Well its because they are The Beatles!!! They make everyhing sound great...to me LOL

  • any song the beatles recorder is pure gold !

  • Great song!!!!!

  • so much history behind this song

  • Gerry and the pacemakers sang it much better!

  • 4 people's computers were upside down

  • Great distraction and great vide0!! thank u downloadmusic .im

  • best version

  • Ooh, la, la! :)

  • I am a huge fan and expert on these guys, but have to say that gerrys version was the better.

  • @kevinturvy

u r right. gerry's version of it is much livelier and it seems almost like they were singing this song in protest but they really wanted to impress with geo martin with please please me which imo was their greatest song of all time.

  • @emrrbv

Well yeah, no one of them really put much into this recording, they wanted it to kinda suck, which was just impossible, so it is only a good version.

  • The same day George was punched, he was run over by a double decker. In the 90's a robber stabbed George. Then he died in 2001

  • The song was written by Mitch Murray. Adam Faith had been offered the song but turned it down and The Beatles recorded a version of it, which was not released until it appeared on the group's retrospective Anthology 1 album in 1995. Click.

  • This is the first time I've heard this by the Beatles, I've only known Gerry & the Pacemaker's version. This is fab.

  • Awww I love these early recordings! Wish I had them on record or something.

  • Where on earth has this song been all my life?

  • The last time the world would see their ears for years to come.

  • a couple of things about this song and the recording ...

george martin thought it would make a hit song (they didn't write this ... he found it in tin pan alley, this factory of pop hits), so he convinced them to record it. they hated it because they thought it was a pansy song.

this recording was done shortly after ringo joined the group. an angry pete best fan punched george in the eye during their first performance with ringo at the cavern. you can see his bruised eye in the pictures.

  • @1982pencil George is always the victim

  • @Koolkitties I know ... poor baby

  • i think paul is sweet:)

  • God damn...

Its official, even the unreleased beatles songs kick ass

  • 4 people need to tell me how do you do it

  • how did they do this song? its wonderfull

  • I like this))

  • i'm just 2 yrs old but love it!!!!

  • gerry and the pacemakers version is better

  • John's voice = <3

  • I just turned 7 years old when they recored this song!!! ♥

  • @Starpass I don't doubt the existence of shadowy, super-rich badguys lurking in the halls of industry and government. What I doubt is John's death being a conspiracy-fueled assassination. For every crackpot conspiracy theory there are 1000 REAL nutcases, like Chapman, who would kill someone for no reason at all.

  • the thing that amazes me is that I didn't know before that John Lennon Grew up in the 40's and 50's the year of buddy Holly until I read a few books about him and the Beatles

  • Brian Epstein capitalized on the Beatles both ways not only did John & Paul write for other artists, but other artists wrote songs Published by NEMS (Brian's company) in the hopes the Beatles would record them ~ He was & is the greatest music promoter

  • csvictory12 Its Not From An Album Its a Single That They Released in Germany

  • what album is this song from , is it please please me ?

  • This Song Is Addicting and Catchy! :D

  • i wish i knew...

  • @sebmetallica im 15 to yay lol

  • Fantastic job on the stills, great song, great band...A++

  • It's amazing how many songs John & Paul wrote that Brian steered to other artists!!

  • @Nuerth True, but not this one, this was written by mitch murray

  • 0:27 RINGO LOKES SO DAMN CUTE :)

  • this is the shit bichs !!!!!!!!!!

  • what an AMAZING set of pictures!!!! awesome is thy name

  • omg!!! i love george so much, that if everyone in the world the Beatles instead of Justin gaydude, i would tell them,' lay off my Georgie! I loved him first!!! ' GEORGE GEORGE GEORGE GEORGE GEORGE!!!!!!

  • ♥you give me a feeling in my heart *ooh la la* like an arrow passing through it♥

  • 3 people thought the button said, "dis i like."

  • @ukidinme2010 3 people haven't got eyes XD

  • great song

  • 0:29 wow, George really does still have the black-eye from Pete Best riots (they really hated the song, right? and that was then covered by Gerry and the Pacemakers and made #1 on the charts)

  • @wojiaokatya

    Yeah the hated the song

  • @wojiaokatya

well, the beatles wanted from the beginning to do their own songs, not even for their debut single they wanted a cover, they wanted to prove themselfes and this son g here ain't bad but they wrote better stuff at that point.

  • Happy BIRTHDAY JOHN!!!!

  • these early Beatles songs r wonderful to listen to. OF COURSE THEN THERE R THE SEXY PHOTOS :)

  • Music was so much simpler and truly from the heart.....great photos!

  • even a piece of shit like this sounds awesome played by the beatles

  • In addition to being great performers and songwriters, the Beatles were also great editors. They hardly ever allowed crap to be put on their albums.

  • ...not the lads best effort... but even their fizzers are brilliant.... :-)

  • oh this girls from today......ive tried to convence my friends that paul is gorgeus, but they wont belive me...... at least i kno u beatle fans do :)

  • @pamcartney paul is one of the 4 hottest guys on the plannet

  • @15yeraoldhippie true!! <3 hahaha and his abilities for singing, makin music, being nice to girls, smiling, playn the bass guitar whith his left hand, drawing, etc makes him even MORE sexy...

  • @pamcartney , im in EXACTLY the same boat :/

  • @pamcartney i know! i have some friends that think hes not bad, but some just think hes ugly. i think theyre all crazy and thats called bad taste. these people are the most beatuiful people on the world, and they just dont kno it! talk about stupidity.haha

  • @rollingstonesgirl99 i think we ALL know the REAL beauty!! :)

  • @pamcartney haha yupp thats the truth :)

  • @NonStopRocker who mentioned liking your comment??

    fucking bolt ya rocket lol

  • who mentioned that I was talkin about you..??...dont flatter yourself dickbreath..!

  • @pamcartney Sometimes when I see Paul I feel a bit dizzy (even at 68!) and I'm 17. And I know my best friend genuinely can't look away from pictures of John. I think this song sums up our feelings quite well actually.

  • @pamcartney ahahaha, your right and all, but ITS ALL ABOUT GEORGE HARRISON!!!!! <3

  • @pamcartney That's so true... My friend once said "I suppose they were hot back then".. I was like "back then? They ARE hot!" (and especially Paul) :-)

  • @pamcartney Paul McCartney not gorgeus according them? They have no eye for good looking man! We Beatlesfans, like you, do <3

  • @pamcartney He was the best looking Beatle.

  • @beccawashere45 just ask him.

  • @pamcartney People who don't realize Paul is gorgeous must be blind

  • @pillowcase001 blind and deaf!

  • @pillowcase001 The Beatles are awesome, Paul broke them up

  • @Mvtech3000 Paul was the first to publicly announce the break-up in 1970 but it has been widely documented that John was the first to leave the preceeding year. Aside from Ringo, Paul probably wanted most to keep the group together.
