But all thanks to Musharraf, many Pakistanis went missing and their relatives were assaulted right in public when they protested. Human Rights organizations are cursing Musharraf for these crimes.
Massacre in FATA and Balochistan are also there.
One thing about Pakistani Army is that it has made a record of killing its own citizens.
I hope one shouldn't forget who Musharraf's formed PML-Q is, a party headed by Chaudhries of Gujrat, means feudals yet again.
To re-stable democracy in Pakistan politicians need to unite at one platform & control the inflation, instability, & unlawful actions becoming the cause of instability of a democratic govt, mostly taken over by the army. The Pak Constitution needs to be revised by a team of retired judges and senior barristers like Aitzaz Ahsan to remove the loop holes allowing misdoings to the rich class, giving equal right to survive to each & every Pakistani.Only then can democracy gain stability in Pakistan
At Pakistan fake inflation is created by violating the rule of supply & demand by hiding the every needs of life in huge stores. Similarly an industrialist imposes inflation making load shedding an issue & insisting on his production loss which he tries to recover by fake inflation imposed on low paid class. The Govt increases the rates of fuel and electricity for its lavishness and a common man pays for it. Ruling community does all its lavishness at the cost of a common low paid man.
Pakistani investor/industrialist is mercilessly throwing 85-90% of Pakistans National Wealth out to the foreign banks.Remaining 10-15% wealth in Pakistani banks is declared as the income and taxation is being done on its behalf. As a result of fake inflation created crushing a common man govt declares all protests as terrorism whereas main terrorist is 1st State Bank of Pakistan not stopping National Wealth from being thrown out and then the govt imposing unjust taxes to fill its empty stomach.
Lavish Pakistan Govt has rough estimate of energy and fuel consumption in the country. For example if an average of 10 million units of electricity is being consumed daily in large cities, increasing Rs 0.05 per unit gives the govt half a million rupees per day per city in the electricity bills. Of this Rs 0.05 inflation 0.03 is accounted for the stealing of tax and utilities by the ruling class and Rs 0.02 goes to the treasury. The inflation caused as a result is being enforced on a common man.
In rural Pakistan 5 percent of the population controls 66 percent of the land which is one of the most lopsided ownership divisions in South Asia. Winning elections depends on creating an alliance among landlords - often by spreading government favors - not by meeting the needs of average voters. As the whole political system is controlled by Feudals one person can't do anything, the only way is to unite and come out of it together by eucating and mutual protests agat it
Take your point, it would only work if the army or any other form of autocracy, was benevolent, i.e. Malaysia, but in the Pakistan's case it isn't and it never has been.
Well relatively speaking it has been better than other form of govts (ayub abd now mush)..i do agree with you though as it reuires geniune commitment on their part.
I agree with everything you say, but I believe the Pakistani Diaspora, which numbers around 4 million, can affect change from outside. Together these 4 million earn as much in a year as the Pakistani govt does for the same period.
The Indians and the Chinese can do it why can't we?
It is very unfortunate, every leader in pak is corrupt, Musharaf,Benazir, Nawaz, everyone. All these are the risk to existance of pakistan, specially this General, he can do anything, literally anything to save his rule. But I guess we deserve it, if dont then we should have thrown all these corrupt peopole into arabian ocean.
pakistan has improved a lot in last 8 years economically and socially. yes terrorism has increased but that is due to outisde situation and is not fault of current leadership.
Unfortunately chodary tried to act as executive and legislative leader of this country and he paid the price for that. Everyone should know their role.
Dont you know whose war this general is fighting? and he is ruining whole nation in the name of terrorism. I agree there are some areas where Pakistan made progress, but it lost alot more than it gained. There is one simple rule of thumb, If america is supporting some ruler in the middle east or asia then simple means that this ruler is not good for that nation.and by the way I live where I can alot more than living in Pak, I live in US.
and yet you have no problem living in a that country.
I would urge you to respect that country where you are currently living or LEAVE. Enough of this dual nature hypocrisy.
UI don't believe in any conspiracy theories. It is the fault of extremists and terorrists that they did 911 and killed 4000 innocents and it is they who have caused increase in extremism not USA. Stop blaming others for your problems. Call it as it is
We should first look into ourselves and stop finding scapegoats. We have people among us who are BEHEADING PAKISTANIS. IS AMERICA RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT ALSO?
Sunni killing shia, shia killing sunni, sunni killing shia. anything left? Every other person is an infidel in such people's eyes and is liable to death. They can behead/kill anyone after declaring them criminal.
Musharraf is doing an historic job not for US (Unites States) but for us (Pakistanis).
what about the other 60+ judges who were removed by mush because they thought it was illigitamate to take oath under the PCO because the constitution has been suspended.
every general who,s come to power has found some kind of scapecoat to prolong his rule.
musharraf is surviving with the support of the west.
his popularity has been reduced to an all time low.
Even this argument is wrong. If people like Immu are so concrned for "legality of judges" then why are they supporting Choodary, a PCO product.
Their argument of independence of judges is false as what they want is an "anti musharraf judge" regardless of the fact that whether he took oath under pco or did not
when people will use such tactics ..and when judges becomes political then you have to clean the slate sometimes..its a lesser evil
President Musharraf ordered all Supreme Court, Shari'at court, and provincial High Court justices to take an oath committing themselves to uphold the PCO, which suspended the Constitution and legislative bodies and prohibited the superior courts from making any decision against the Chief Executive "or any person exercising powers or jurisdiction under his authority."
Six Supreme Court justices, including the Chief Justice, and nine provincial High Court justices resigned in protest; however, 85 percent of the affected justices agreed to swear allegiance to the PCO. As a result of this decree, government directives and ordinances under the PCO no longer are subject to judicial review
In January 2000 Chief Executive General Musharraf dictated that all superior court judges swear a new oath under the PCO No.1 issued on October 15, 1999, which had suspended the Constitution of Pakistan. After swearing an oath on the PCO Justice Iftikhar was elevated to the Supreme Court on 4 February 2000.
Importantly the Chief Justice took oath under the provisional constitutional order (PCO) that Musharraf introduced after taking power and suspending the constitution. Thus the CJ can hardly be considered a principled flagbearer of democracy
well when mush first came to power the whole nation accepted him only few judges resigned in protest this time 60% of the judges have refused to take oath under the PCO.
Musharraf has to live these feudals as they can create havoc. Benazir, Shujaat, Nawaz Sharif..everyone you see there are people like these who are either feudals or land lords.
