that looks like an origonal gramophone and sound box although withought modern electronics im supprised you managed to get that kind of recording especialy from a 1954 - 1951 even though it was in the early stages of record printing from recycled records :) nice to hear or here though saves me winding up ma gramophone lol
Patefon 95 is totaly correct. it is a HMV model 101, with the original no. 4 reproducer. This model with the winding handle to the rigt are build from 1927 to 1931. The model was introduced 1925, with the winding handle at the front. I have one of those later build model 101. This model is a very good grammophone, and sounds very good.
i think the gramophone is original but i think the soundbox is from an much older gramophone becose a gramopone from the 30s like like yours should have been equipped with a otoskopic or vita tone soundbox but yours is equipped with a older model of soundbox thats made for playing old acousticly recorded records (vita tone and ortoscopic were made for playing electricly recorded records)
I really want one of these to play my 78s on! I even found one at an antique store one time, but they wanted an arm and a leg for it. (Seriously! They had the hacksaw ready LOL), LOL but seriously, I imagine these are hard to come by. And especially original ones. I'm sure there's more than a few fakes floating around.
does it have anti skip ;) @ thecheckercorner: my ipod's battery is completely dead it wont hold a charge for nothing anymore it will run maybe 2 songs then crap out, i plan to replace the HD with a compactflash card and HD to CF adaptor
lol, the batteries for ipods barely keep them running for 3-5 years. I still have my first gen from '01, I'll take on your idea...but you'll definetly be regrettably right :-)
Stevie, this is history kept alive, never ever thought i would hear, let alone see this classic played on gramophone as it was in 'the olden days' thankyou :)
how much do you have to wind up for it to play one song? i really wanna buy one

how does a wind up gramophone work? you just crank it up (like with music boxes)?
it feels so oldschool to hear the sound from one of these rather than modern music players, thanks for sharing!
freakishhigh 4 years ago
yes it has a spring motor, works kind of like a clock.
and the reproducer is what makes the sound. with out getting technical.
yes its old school but they work still, will an ipod work when its 70-80 years old??
plus you can listen to music without power.
good for those blackouts hehe
steviebboy69 4 years ago
haha yeah 'oldschool' is a compliment! i'd really love to get one of these
freakishhigh 4 years ago
yes i kind of guessed thats what you mean.
you could start looking for one on ebay.
but dont get a reproduction one.
steviebboy69 4 years ago
i'm bidding on one, it doesn't say reproduction so i hope it's an original. wish me luck! thanks again
