  • The instructions are on the screen! So hard to watch! (But thanks for posting the video. :)

  • Lovin' the Pin-Ball hole!

  • Ooooh, I LOVED this game as a kid! I've lost count of how many times I've completed it, both on my original Amiga and on emulators. <3 This title screen is such a nostalgiagasm.

  • ? I can't understand why you don't use the fans on the windmill hole, the carpets on the magic carpet hole, and generally the hamburger hole is makable on 1 shot if you start the hamburger bouncing on the way.. still a good reminder of a game I love (though I played mostly the IIGS Version..)

  • This game was so ridiculously fun, brings back memories.

  • The highly frustrating thing about this video is that the player isn't using any of the features like whirling the mouse or magic carpets. Sits there wondering why the burger isn't bouncing. Very poor video for a Very good game.

  • I had this game for the Atari ST, and it was a blast to play! Thanks for this, I couldn't remember the 5th and 8th holes at all

To get the secret 10th hole, you have to complete the course in par or better. It's a par 4 in two stages, kind of like Pin Ball and Castle combined. See next comment for details

  • The first part is a Breakout-style slope, with about a dozen drop targets, and a paddle you control left and right with the mouse. If miss your ball with the paddle, you'll have to take another stroke to get back onto the hill. Once all the targets have been touched, there's pipes that open up in each top corner. These drain to the second part, which is a checkered floor. Some of the squares flash, and if your ball rolls onto any of them, it will instantly teleport back to near the exit chute

  • omfg...the memories!

  • there is a secret level. does anyone knows how to go to this level ?? (10)

  • fuck me that music is an abomination. St music is so superior

  • Ahh, my ears!!

  • I had this on the genesis. It's funny how after years and years I still remember it.

  • use the FANS!!!!!

  • I remember I played this on my uncle's old compurter and also at elementary school..! Had five guys cheering when I won the energy level. Good times!

  • why not using the fans at the fifth level? Would've saved at least one stroke

  • Hehe, the memories. Used to play this in b&w with no sound..It was still very fun! :)

  • The pinball hole sounds like the beginning to Tonari no Totoro... lol!

  • Is it just me, or is the music in this video a lot slower than it normally should be?

  • Oh god that hamburger used to piss me off.

  • I had the Cloanto Amiga emulator and used it to make a rom of the from my amiga disc. When played on the Amiga emulator, the audio track is MUCH MUCH SLOWER than when played on the actual Amiga.

  • I remember playing this game as a kid in grade school! Does anybody know if there is a copy or port for this for Windows? I'd love to be able to play this game again!

  • lol - I played this game as a kid on my first computer, Apple 2gs. My first computer game.

    This game was GREAT

  • Music is terrible...

  • check the IIGS version... this wasn't the best.. better than the PC version (beeping... ugh)

  • Yes, there was a hole 10... you had to shoot the ball into a mouse hole with glowing red eyes on lvl 9 to get there as I recall. Can anybody offer any more on this?

  • you have to light up the buttons on hole 9, go over to the right half of the course and wait for the red eyes to appear in the mouse hole. If you can get through while the eyes are lit up you go to course 10, otherwise it spits your ball back out and you have to try again.

  • There was NO better version than the IIGS version. Couldn't you also get to hole 10 (???) if you finished the first 9 par or under par? (in 26 strokes or less)?

  • 2 -- easy ace. Click the burger a bunch of times before taking your first shot until you can see the toppings.

5 -- You can do this in 2 shots by moving your mouse and doing the fans.

6 -- takes some doing but you can move the ball when it's on the magic carpet.

8 -- there are bumpers on 7 sides of the ant hill. Using that will keep the ball moving.

9 -- either put it in a bad hole and set up for a "red eye" trick, or lay up so it's a straight shot across the top part.

  • actually, there were 10 levels.

  • Pinball Palace theme = the intro of "Michael Jackson - Shes Out of My Life"

its even more apparent in the Genesis version

  • Oh man... Zany Golf! I used to play this with my dad when I was little back in '89. Fun game! We always thought the pinball level was neat. Waiting for the hamburger to start bouncing in level 2 was annoying... I don't think we ever beat Energy, but got close many times. You did a good job!

  • I used to play this game at my local library all the time when I was young! The music from the pinball level has been in my head for years... I love it! I wonder if anyone has done a remix of it.

I never got past the magic carpet hole, though...

  • d*** you pinball song !...

The Audio Was a lot better on the Apple IIgs

  • @docsigma I feel sorry for your mentality then mate, music was driving me mad after 10 secs and if you have heard this in your head for years, you must me a head case. IMO.

  • hamburger hole is usually a hole-in-one map when you make the burger bouncing before the first shot :D

  • There's an easier way to get to the Mystery hole at the end of the game.

After you hit both switches and hit the ball in the suction tube, hit the ball into the first hole on the top level. It will send the ball out in front of the mouse hole. Wait for the mouse's eyes to turn red, and hit it in the hole.

Played this game when I was about six on my dad's CompuAdd 286. Played it again today on that same machine for the first time in years. Great stuff.

  • hell of a shot on the fans level at the end

  • has anybody done the last level?

  • I have, a bunch of times back in the day. Mystery (hole 10) is one of my favorite holes.

  • One of my favorite HS teachers liked to bring her Apple 2 GS to class and we'd play this with her after school! We always had a blast!

  • We had a IIGS when I was a kid (that was a great computer then) and this was one of our favorite games! This brings back such memories.

  • The IIgs is STILL a great computer-better than any machine that runs the Microsloth OS!

  • I have a mission! I will go to the final level, and I will record a video response to this video showing the final hole, '???' and how to reach it.

  • @Mattkamineko It's simple. Just finish the course in 26 strokes or less or hit the mouse eyes when they glow red. You'll go directly to hole 10, Mystery, also known as "???".

  • You forgot to manipulate magic carpet, fans etc.

  • just found it on one of my old 3,5"disk I wonder how we could play those games accepting this really bad sound in former times...

  • great !!

  • Jumping hamburger. oooh. Wonder why I didn't have patience long time ago.

  • It lacks of the secret level!

  • i had the megadrive version of this, loved it!

  • Oh, so many memories. I can still play this on my amiga, it's so great. The music bizarre, but gameplay breath taking. I'll be honest, no other mini-golf has compared to this.

  • Dude, you missed out the final level: Hole 10 '???'!

  • Yeah, you need to go into the mouse hole when I think the eyes turn green for a split second.

  • E X C E L L E N T

    This Game Is Most İmportant

    Fun GAME For Everybody

  • this, gods, another world, wings, and pinball where my favourites. i loved the ineraction in this game (ex windmill movement = movement of mouse, or hamburger click= jump) verey fun game!

  • I used to have Zany Golf for my Apple and IBM computers, but the music sounds different on the Apple and IBM versions.

  • yup, the amiga was better all-round at the sound and gameplay.

  • No, the IIGS version had the best sound. The Ensoniq sound chip was the GS's best feature and it really showed on Zany Golf GS.

  • hehe I just checked out the IIGS music, true it sounds more natural... but I had an amiga and enjoy the lo-fi sound, the way the timbre changes at different pitches makes it dirtier!

  • Actually the GS only had 32kb of sample RAM for the sound chip! In the end the Amiga often sounded better, due to the fact that it could handle up to 2MB of sound samples (2MB chipmem). In this particularly game the GS version sounds a lot better though.

The sound chip itself is superior in every single way.

BTW. the SNES has the same problem as the GS, with only 64Kb of sample RAM.

  • Thanks thanks thanks for all the memories of this great and amazing game!!

  • I have to admit, watching this was painful... never even attempting the awesome gimmicky things on each level is grating, because that was the best part of the game!

  • You didn't even bother to read the hints and follow them.
