  • GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!

  • I live a few minutes away from there. Alas, I was only four when the quake hit...

  • lolz "Hi Mom!"

  • A warm off-shore weather pattern in California, while coincidental, is considered "earthquake weather", due to the unusual pattern of earthquakes occurring during this beautiful weather. Did you ever hear of an earthquake in California while it was raining?

  • @socalrubi.....it's called "Shake and Bake"

  • Level242, maybe you should go back a few more levels until you "clear." Seriously, Tom Cruise's movie is coming out soon, do your fellow space traveler proud and try not to act like a complete ass just now. I was waiting to enter Candlestick at the main gate for game 3 when I heard some guy say "this is earthquake weather." He had a premonition, that's all. At the moment the quake hit I was virtually alone, in the walkway near the hot dog stands, as most people had filed into the stadium.

  • Clueless? Not so, I was waiting to go in right there at the main gate about 4:30, when I heard someone say "this is earthquake weather." Why would someone just blurt that out? He had a clue, that's why. I was walking about midway between the food stalls and the double-doors to the right infield, I had just put sauerkraut on our dogs, when it hit. I was by myself, basically, but on the other side of that bulkhead thousands of people. It was my birthday!

  • @hummlyhummly

Does anybody know what the fuck this guy is talking about?

  • LOL THE GUY SAID HI MOM

  • The Loma Prieta quake was a 6.9 - not 7.1 or 7.3

  • Wow, people were skinny back then;

  • @wimpie25

SF is one of the most fit cities in America.

  • Right Earthquake struck at 5:04pm.7.3 on the richter I believe.I remember vividly where I was too at that moment.

  • I lived in Novato at the time. We felt it too.

  • actualy it was a 7.1

  • A lot of people had skipped out of work early to go to the game or watch it at home. So the freeways and the bridge weren't as busy as they usually were at that time of day. I was Downtown SanFran when it hit and still remember it vividly.

  • Pathoplastic, you are right. Sorry, bikebuddha, but what you are saying is not right because I too remember watching it live. I remember hearing "We're having an earth..." and then the picture cut to blackness. I vividly recall saying to my dad, who was not watching the game, that an earthquake just hit the San Fran area and it happened on live tv. It took several minutes before national network coverage came back on the air and within an hour we were seeing the first pics of the damage.

  • Lets go Oakland!

  • I recall watching it televised, when the earthquake first started--why aren't there any videos of this? Am I dreaming?

  • The broadcast hadn't gone live when the earthquake struck. People with sattelite dishes saw it live on the pre-feed.

  • People in Oakland were lucky the double decker freeway in Oakland did not have a lot of traffic on that route- just a few cars. My aunt used to feed cats up to about 30 cats. On that day of the earthquake none could be found.

  • Back on May 6th, 1976 I was living in Vajont, italy. I was sitting on the couch smoking a Marlboro, sipping s Rum and coke, while listening to the radio station about 15 miles south of me. All of a sudden the needle slid across the record. The DJ said noting. then about ten seconds later everything in the living room began moving around.

It was the beginning of the GREAT Friuli 6.5 quake. over 1,000 died, 35,000 injured. Then we have over 400 aftershocks. I have been insane every since! :-(

  • I don't know Italy, how far were you from the epicenter? (sorry about the trauma)--I lived through the Northridge, CA earthquake --that wasn't pleasant--espeacialy cuz it was, like, 3 am...

  • i'm italian but i wasn't born at the time yet. My parents remember...

  • ...?

  • And the point is...???

  • Exactly how long was it before the earthquake came through?

  • The earthquake happened at 5:04PM, so I'm guessing this is 5:00-5:03

  • i remeber too i was 18 in richmond california the ground looked like water! the way a wave flows real freaky

  • I was watching the Live Feed on ABC when the Quake hit, The game was about to start, It freaked me out!! Am Michaels was talking on Cam when the screen went dark then An episode of Roseanne came on then I remember hearing a voice coming over the tv saying that there had just been an Earthquake in San Fransisco!! I will never forget that

  • It was a beautiful day....we were clueless.

  • Whoa!!! At about 11-15 second you can see a Caprice Brougham LS Exactly like MINE!!!!

  • i luv you

  • Well thats nice.
