  • I stand corrected. There is an outtake from that year called "In The City," but not the same chord progression.

  • What song are they talking about by The Who from 1966 that has the same name and chord progression? That would put it on "A Quick One" and there is no song by that name on the record. Or any single I am aware of.

  • A band that looked like a band. Ripped jeans and text are fine, but suits convey attitude as well.

  • thanks for this

  • Want any blues chaps? Oh, bit late for that! Excellent hi-charged effort.

  • great

  • I forgot just how much of the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Who were absorbed by the Jam.

  • If u followed the Who in the 70's, Jam were a natural progression, always thought Happy Jack was an especially psychedelic song, wonder whether the Jam ever covered it?

  • @leachim04 Well said.

  • Probably the most underappreciated band ever.

  • I saw From the Jam live, they weren't as bad as Weller made them out to be...

  • This is when Weller had some balls in his songwriting. Before he turned into a Phil Collins-Motown wussy!

  • @tarkusmjg what you on about,,soft lad,,

  • @Tamwoody65

No offence but, what language are you speaking? What you on about, what are you saying? What do you mean about my comment? if yes, than "The Jam" one of my fav bands of that musical era we're exciting and had a hard edge that Weller has lost. To me his solo music is abhorrent like P. Collins. How many Motown remakes do we really need to hear anymore???

  • my favorite band in high school. they never made it big here in the States alas.

  • @MrRETEROROB were you from in the states then :)

  • @jordidwdw These days I live in Irvona, Pennsylvania ( I'm sure you've heard of it ha-ha) . Back in high school I lived in Arlington, Virginia , near DC. A few of my freinds were pretty big Jam fans as well.

  • @MrRETEROROB it good to hear a `stateside` jam fan `cos they never made it big in the US but as weller said `neither did the small faces or egg and chips`

  • @unclemort1960 LOL!!

  • What a moment in music!! SUBLIME....

  • Rick rules!! That is the Jam!! With 2 Rickenbacker axes!! HIGH QUALITY!!

  • apparently this is the first ever appearence on TOTP by a UK punk band! is this true? didnt stranglers perform 'go buddy go ' on there around the same time?

  • I watched this episode on T.V,and I like the Jam and i'm only 15!!! LOL

  • i bought the album a few days later and saw `em play later that year

  • Anyone aggree the beginning of it and other instrumental bits of it sounds like The Sex Pistols...Holidays in the Sun.

  • @dw69ful yeah but they realesed this before that

  • Good Comment...Didnt think of that !! So really I should suggest that " Holidays in the Sun" sounds a bit like " In the City" !!

    Thanks for Replying.

  • @dw69ful No problem dude

  • @dw69ful `city` was released long before `holidays` apparently sid viscious ( i love the pistols but i think sid was a total prat) said he was going to beat weller up for ripping of the song -not that sid wrote or played on any pistols stuff

  • @unclemort1960 can you imagine that... poor old sid the image boy would of gotten battered LOL

  • Aha, das ist Paul Weller... Gleich an der unglaublich geilen Stimme erkannt.

  • I watched it at the time, and I've watched it now. Still makes me proud. What a band.

  • CLASS!!!
