It's sad to know that when wearing a John Lennon tee shirt that people ask you who that is, or if he is still alive. He was a great person who stood for something, while mucians today just stand for money and fame.

Freedom of speech without the fear of govt. oppression is the greatest freedom any free society should have.Lennon never sold out and for that I'm eternally grateful.

@PlampinUK His age has nothing to do with what was inside him.If he were still alive he would still be fighting oppression.I'm personally a Libertarian and i can say I didn't always agree with his politics.he thought govt should be bigger to do more to help where I think govt should be smaller and do less but I always agreed with him on civil rights,free speech,and legalizing drugs.(I don't do drugs and wouldn't if they were legal but it's not for govt to decide what goes in my body

@dayroemer How do you know he stood for any of these things at the time of his death? Were you intimate with him that you seem to know his opinions at that point in his life? Or are you basing his "sincerity" on his stoned ramblings and ravings of 1967-74?

@dayroemer One other thing, I like the tune to this ditty but life has shown me that many people find it very easy to hide it when they are crippled inside - as with much of Lennon's stuff the music is better than the the rather facile self-mythologising lyrics.

I always make people mad when I say the Beatles are over-rated. They had a great sound, but except for a few songs their music lacked any spine; there was just nothing to it behind the catchy tune. Imagine is the album showing us what the Beatles could have been if John Lennon had more creative control in the band. I his Plastic Ono Band stuff!
