My father wasn't around for most of my life. I've always related to "Father of Mine." When I heard this song years ago, I thought to myself, "this is all the things I would have wanted to hear from my father." Sadly, after seeing him for the first time in 22 years during the summer of 2009 he passed away in January of 2010. Every father should make sure he tells his baby girl or boy that he loves them in this way, at least once in their lives, because you never know when it will be to late.

There was an artist special on Art Alexakis years ago on MTV. In it, he played a mostly piano driven version of this song with none of the fluff in this version. It was strikingly beautiful. If only i could find that session....

I've listened to some Everclear before, but never heard of this song. We just had a little girl and named her Annabella Marie. This song made me cry. Love it!!
