It depends on the system used. By far the most common is to count spires that are an integral part of the building, but not antennas, which can be attached afterwards at will.

The Sears Towers got its antennas after the building's structure was finished. It does look a little unfair in diagrams, i agree.

Skyscrapers are awesome! I just wish that Chicago could take back the title of owning the tallest skyscraper with the Spire. C'est la vie. Luckily I live near the birthplace of the skyscraper. Truly exciting knowing that 9/11 has not slowed down the progress of skyscraper construction. Also, less rectangular glass box skyscrapers and more art influenced designs creates a skyline one would want to stare at and view every little detail. I do not look forward to mushroom looking skyscrapers.

Hi, i was on the CN Tower in '94 and it surely is one awesome piece of architecture.

However i decided not to include structures such as Towers, Chimneys and Masts into my video. They don't provide room for people and are in a height category of their own. Maybe some other videos on YT have them included :)
