He was a pure racing driver who loved driving a pure racing car. Technology blankets lack of driving skills. Real car= mechanics, not electronic.

clutch is only used to keep the engine going at extremely low speeds / getting into 1st gear, once the car leaves first gear its auto-clutch from then on forward.
if a car spins out of control - the anti-stall kicks in to prevent the engine from stalling,
clutch is also used for the driver to start his engine in-case he stalls his engine from a spin-out

You see, McLaren's 2 bottom paddles on the steering wheel adjust the torque setting which is basically a legal form of TC, relative to Spyker who just have those 2 paddles as a neutral. This is supposedly McLarens 'secret weapon' and I'm sure if they did a video like this, a lot of teams would be watching it to try and make their own version of it.
I'm sure since basically anyone who cares a little bit about the technical side of F1 knows about those paddles then Mclaren's competitors also know about it.
