There hasn't been any gold there for quite a while. When we moved away from our money being backed by gold and the gold standard, most of it was taken out. A good deal of it went to London and to European banks. The James Bond 007 thriller "Goldfinger" could have happened back when it was originally written as there was actually some gold still there then - maybe not as much even then - but from the way it sounds now there is nothing, just a building & maybe a few "show" ingots to show visitors

@magprob It Doesn't take much imagination, the economy is just about there and starvation could easily come soon what with all the damaged crops and crop land. I know the gold wont be worth shit. During the depression of the 1930's the government called in all the gold anyway and most folks lost their money. The government would do that again in a heartbeat.

The real question is if there is no gold who are they (government) going to point the dirty end of the stick at. I could see them calling on the public to turn in their gold and even using the public to turn in anyone they know who owns gold/silver and make it illegal to own gold/silver. They could even turn around and demonize gold/silver owners as the new terrorist or anti-patriotic as in not sharing the wealth amongst the starving parasite citizenry.

If there is actually gold in Fort Knox, it is in the US government's interest to open the doors and show everyone that it exists. If the US government keeps stone walling on this issue, well, that says everything...
