This song came out in 1973. I have seen im perform this song in 1976 and later in the Donny and Marie show. His voice was much deeper and lower.

For this song, his voice was in the process of changing.

This is the one...THE ONE!...The ultimate..This is the song that made me know he was going to be great things beyond "Puppy Love". I went to an album signing and he didn't seem proud of this song. i did my best to convince him otherwise. I might mention it was year 1988

This song is quite good. I think the reason Donny was not as proud of this song is because at the studio, they had turned down the speed and make the song sounded too slow and drawn out on the LP.

I had to actually turn up the speed a little here to make it sound more natural.

If you cannot tell that I have turned up the speed on the turntable right here, that means this is the right speed and his natural vocal range for this song.

Donny has a way of singing that makes his revivals better than the original. His voice is changing a lot here. I have heard his later life version of this song which has an even deeper voice.

This song is very romantic and emotional and Donny does a great job. I like so many of his songs that it is hard to pin down a favorite. Each time I want to call one my favorite, then another song of his would come along and make me melt again. I empathize with the way you feel. Thanks for sharing.

Merrill has been my "babe" for quite a few years now BUT Donny was my pre-teen love back in the 70's so when I heard this song tonight it gave me goosebumps and the tears just started to flow - I just love this song and I especially love Donny's version.
