@warbo101 It was a while ago! Dr Karl said my guess was spot on, I figured that the night vision worked fine because night vision works by picking up infra red light as apposed to the normal spectrum of light that we see. So it wasnt actually dark that day; there was light everywhere, we just couldnt see it but the camera could.

on what? why you can see especially far with the night vision on? i think it was because the infrared sensor was picking up invisible light, light that was getting through the clouds. Thats my theory!
