@REMaster05 i know this is a late reply but if u switch the soft filter to 3 in the game the pixelated characters seem to render a bit smoother on big screen tv's atleast on my HD thats how it seems to be

I love King of Fighters as much as the next fan, but part 12 was a disappointment. SNK have the right idea of making KoF better than it ever was; however, there's no storylines, no bosses, each characters classic move list and finshers were neglected. SNK was probably trying to beat Street Fighter 4. If it was my choice, I would make a prequel like Capcom is making Super Street Fighter 4! SNK need to stop worrying about the competition and make great games!
@sayian23 Competition improves the breeding so of course they should worry! otherwise we'd just end up with another disappointing game like this... and Tekken 6 and then SNK are finished.
And now SNK don't just have Capcom to worry about either but also Ark with the new BlazBlue series.
I'm optimstic SNK will deliver a 3D fighter well worth owning by the end of this year with KOF 13.
i love this game..i dont care if it doesnt have a story mode..i already know who everyone is..its got that old fashioned arcade feel to it...online is sucky but get sum friends over and its the shiiiiit ! graphics are the best.. better that blazblue, battle fantasia, arcana hearts, guilty gear and sf4..true 2d graphics no 3d cheating..love it and recommend it to true fighting game fans..cant wait for 13 hope they have a 40+ roster i wanna see everyone redrawn..jus lighten up on the muscles
I hope that the next one will be for wii and have Samurai Showdown, Last Blade, Metal Slug, World Heoes, And Magcian Lord charecters to capture the feel of the original.

@xxxkingjoexxx You've got to be kidding me. SSIV is one of the best-looking 2D fighters of its era, just a notch below CvS. As to character designs, variety wins over personal taste. I don't like Cheng Sinzan and Ash Crimson, but there's no denying they're original, which is a rarity.
@Lioyd1rving the thing that really killed 4 for me was that compared to 1 thru 3 the movement was so sluggish & it didnt have a lot of characters either. but the fatalities were really cool. & i gotta say 5 looked way better.as far as character design, variety does beat personal taste, however, look at streetfighter, & samurai shodown, great variety & not too many cheesey lookin characters. kof & fatal fury r examples where some of that originality should have been worked on a little more.

@Lioyd1rving i'm aware of what series i'm talkin about. the fact is there is nothing original about the design of yamazaki, kim, or geese, fun to play as, but nothing creative or original about their look. geese is a white guy wearing old school japanese shirt & pants. kim wears a typical tai kwan do gi, and yamazaki wears a dressed up nice shirt & pants, the most creative thing about his look is his hair. & these r sadly some of the better character designs they had til gerou came out.
@xxxkingjoexxx There's more to character design (and originality) than mere visuals. Geese and Yamazaki's appeal isn't just how they look, it's the fact that they're respectively a badass mofo and a brutal psycho.
@xxxkingjoexxx Well I guess in terms of style, KOF and Fatal Fury series are based from more of a somewhat sleek stylish demeanor that does mimic a specific japanese stereotype of upscale urban fashion. Not to mention the obvious feminine sensibilities derived to many both the characters mere stance and fighting style. Androgynous aren't characters aren't new to anime inspired works but I wouldn't say KOF and Garou aren't ripping much from other inspirations as much as your giving off..
@xxxkingjoexxx And actually I would say at times snk share this problem with Capcom in terms of the fighting games character creation. Both companies don't rip off many basis for there charcters from other works but simply recycle and rip off their own very works. Both companies try to hard to simplify their stretch on pushing the character creation further beyond what is popular and expected. For insints, Street Fighters Charlie simply being a poor man's Guile.
@xxxkingjoexxx but I guess you have to factor in familiarity can be what determines a loyal fanbase. And technically speaking the more indentifiable traits of distictive illustration comes in the many simple but highly detailed clothing the KOF characters have. While yes, maybe not totally original but it sets them apart from other series in a obvious way. And speaking of Garou Terry Bogard is actually more of a unique character then Ryu in both fighting style and originality in design.

I love the KOF games but honestly I thought KOF 12 was the worst fighting game I've saw this decade. I don't think I've saw a fighter game these past few years that really kicked ass. SFIV and Blazblue were great but they still need some SERIOUS tweaking. However, the new decade is just over a month away. Super Street fighter 4 and Blazblue 2 (hopefully an new KOF game as well) are looking promising.

I'm still awating the game that will finally merge SF2HD with SF3. Blazblue had choppy 5 frame attack animations in hi-res. KOF12 has smoother animated yet lower-res sprites. Stupid next gen systems can't handle both at the same time or what? Yun/Yang's fighting styles are amazing on SF3 due to the vast amounts of different strikes they could pull of, awesome looking poses in other words. I was so looking forward to SF4, but I won't go into that piece of crap.

SF3's smooth animation made for an equally smooth fighting engine. It was slower paced, the parry was cool, super jumps moved forward rather than straight up, it was only missing a run. Thing is, SF3 is a 10 year old game that is better animated than the new ones.
ouh and yea..im pretty upset with Iori's powers, i tink they kinda suck. what happened to his purple flame moves? and god, look at Ralf..he looks fat and his powers suck too. honestly, i tink the old ones are still the best. They made Robert look sucky too. gee..
i got a question. i just bought this game yesterday (xbox360) and the characters are freakin pixelated?! could any of u guys pls xplain/help. seein things pixelated in my HD tv is totally not in my dictionary. ive already set the console display setting to 1080i but still.. *sigh* if its meant to be then im gonna sell this game.
It looks pixelated because it's a 2D sprite. I wish more games would do this because quite frankly new 3D games aren't anywhere near as fun as old 2D games.

Well the downfall of King Of Fighter 12 is that there is no boss to smack on. No storyline or what-so-ever. These are some of the reasons the rating is so low. There is a glitch in it too. Use Raiden and you will find the glitch.

Might need a fight stick for this one. The regular controler didn't cut it for street fighter as is forcing me to pick up a fight stick to properly pull off moves.

Fate unlimited codes is the worst broken ass fighter ive seen after MVC2. On the other hand Fate is a anime that should not be a fighting again. SNK yes they did go bankrupt but The founder of SNK nover gave up and open SNK playmore both companies were always trustworthy and they finally form up. @xxxkingjoexxx You've got to be kidding me. SSIV is one of the best-looking 2D fighters of its era, just a notch below CvS. As to character designs, variety wins over personal taste. I don't like Cheng Sinzan and Ash Crimson, but there's no denying they're original, which is a rarity.

@Lioyd1rving the thing that really killed 4 for me was that compared to 1 thru 3 the movement was so sluggish & it didnt have a lot of characters either. but the fatalities were really cool. & i gotta say 5 looked way better.as far as character design, variety does beat personal taste, however, look at streetfighter, & samurai shodown, great variety & not too many cheesey lookin characters. kof & fatal fury r examples where some of that originality should have been worked on a little more.

@Lioyd1rving i'm aware of what series i'm talkin about. the fact is there is nothing original about the design of yamazaki, kim, or geese, fun to play as, but nothing creative or original about their look. geese is a white guy wearing old school japanese shirt & pants. kim wears a typical tai kwan do gi, and yamazaki wears a dressed up nice shirt & pants, the most creative thing about his look is his hair. & these r sadly some of the better character designs they had til gerou came out.

@xxxkingjoexxx Well I guess in terms of style, KOF and Fatal Fury series are based from more of a somewhat sleek stylish demeanor that does mimic a specific japanese stereotype of upscale urban fashion. Not to mention the obvious feminine sensibilities derived to many both the characters mere stance and fighting style. Androgynous aren't characters aren't new to anime inspired works but I wouldn't say KOF and Garou aren't ripping much from other inspirations as much as your giving off..

Both companies don't rip off many basis for there charcters from other works but simply recycle and rip off their own very works. Both companies try to hard to simplify their stretch on pushing the character creation further beyond what is popular and expected. For insints, Street Fighters Charlie simply being a poor man's Guile.

And technically speaking the more indentifiable traits of distictive illustration comes in the many simple but highly detailed clothing the KOF characters have. While yes, maybe not totally original but it sets them apart from other series in a obvious way. And speaking of Garou Terry Bogard is actually more of a unique character then Ryu in both fighting style and originality in design.

Because the country is filled with the types of people who will pump millions of yen into the arcades and who will devote hours upon hours to mastering a fighting game. Whereas in America and Europe, if it isn't Tekken, Streetfighter, DOA or Virtua Fighter, then people don't really want to know.

Spot on, 1DeviousBastard. Fighting games are great, but they are falling under criticism these days because they just can't seem to shake that image of being repititious. Fighting games need a new mechanic, a new kind of gimmick that makes the formula completely fresh. Do you remember Ehrgiez? It was a fighter that gave a new dimension to the combat. Here's to hoping that the next big fighter does something radical. Oh, and yes Capcom. If Capcom ever fucked anything up, I don't remember it.

I love the KOF games but honestly I thought KOF 12 was the worst fighting game I've saw this decade. I don't think I've saw a fighter game these past few years that really kicked ass. SFIV and Blazblue were great but they still need some SERIOUS tweaking. However, the new decade is just over a month away. Super Street fighter 4 and Blazblue 2 (hopefully an new KOF game as well) are looking promising.

I'm still awating the game that will finally merge SF2HD with SF3. Blazblue had choppy 5 frame attack animations in hi-res. KOF12 has smoother animated yet lower-res sprites. Stupid next gen systems can't handle both at the same time or what? Yun/Yang's fighting styles are amazing on SF3 due to the vast amounts of different strikes they could pull of, awesome looking poses in other words. I was so looking forward to SF4, but I won't go into that piece of crap.

SF3's smooth animation made for an equally smooth fighting engine. It was slower paced, the parry was cool, super jumps moved forward rather than straight up, it was only missing a run. Thing is, SF3 is a 10 year old game that is better animated than the new ones.

Well the downfall of King Of Fighter 12 is that there is no boss to smack on. No storyline or what-so-ever. These are some of the reasons the rating is so low. There is a glitch in it too. Use Raiden and you will find the glitch.
