I'll never forget the first time I played the original Kick Off. Prior to that, the best footy game out was Emlyn Hughes International Soccer, a Commodore 64 game based on an even older game simply called 'International Soccer.' And for you really old farts out there, remember the Intellivision soccer, which was jaw-dropping at the time compared to the Atari console. 3D 'style' graphics on a console at that time was revolutionary. But Kick Off and Kick Off 2 were just fantastic at the time.

Kick Off 2 and player manager are my favourite football games ever. Kick Off took a lot more practise and skill than sensible soccer and winning was more satisfying. It was better in almost every respect. Player Manager was seriously addictive too.

An Amiga Footie Classic. Had many a competitive game with my old mate back in the very early 90's. Always managed to get the better of the keeper by charging up the wing then quickly cutting in diagnolly. Cheers for the memories.

@mozg You're right dude! This game is famous for 2 things: blind referee and handicapped goal keeper. Kick off is a lot faster and rougher than SWOS which makes it more like "speedball" on grass. :)

In 1994 I went to Manchester for the Kick Off National Championships at the gamestore 'GAME' and I came fifth. Wot an amazing game! My main player on the Player Manager Version was E B Phillips! He had stamina and rescilience!

Sensible Soccer was for people who couldn't play Kick Off 2. That's why they thought it was better, because it suited their abilities. Kick Off 2 is still the best football game ever. I should know. I'm the 2002 world champion after all.

Compared to other in terms of graphics it looks shitty...but for those who played itseriously like me, this was THE bet soccer game ever made. I used to have a friend who played as good as me and i mde games of 20 minutes each half and the scores were like 1-1, 2-1...I had 5 or 6disks filled with saved goals. I wish that my Amiga still works...I would trade any PES or FIFA´s 17´s for good old Kick Off 2!!

Fab video - I remember scoring exactly the same goals myself!!! There were a couple you didn't quite get there though (not necessarily glorious) - bicycle kicks from crosses (expanded version only?), Nicholls running straight down the middle then just bending in with aftertouch.... plus bundling the keeper with a header when he tries to throw it out!

Forget Gascoigne, Gullit and Platini - the best player to emerge from the 80s was R.Barber!!!
