You can't compare Charles and Bryan.....it's apples to oranges. Charles had the element of surprise and mystery like few musicians of any genre. Bryan is the most powerful and athletic picker I have ever witnessed. They are both great.
Thanks for your "Oh-so-kind" title correction. I do try to get the titles right. I appreciate being corrected, and I'm happy to do so, but if you don't like the video, don't watch.
With all due respect to the late Charles Sawtelle, it's a bit of a stretch to say that Sawetlle could "outpick" Bryan Sutton. Obviously Sutton is an extremely talented musician. His undeniable flatpicking skills have made him a much sought after session musician in Nashville and a great performer. Nice addition to Hot Rize imho. I have followed Hot Rize from their inception, knew Charles from the early days in Denver and to be honest, I never saw him display picking skills that rival Suttons.
it's like funny to see them older but otherwise the same! love this

These guys are great, but wouldn't it be nice to hear just one Hot Rize instrumental breakdown type tune - without the phase shifter.

The banjo has the same tone used on Wernicks *niwot* concept album in the 70's for a similar tune called *plane 45*

Bryan's solos in this were the best guitar I've ever seen live hands down. Even the rest of hot rize looks blown away when he plays.

hell chuckie sawtelle could outpick him, i think the look of amusement is more of a look of "charles was better than you" than being blown away..
