i dont get it, if azulon was firelord for 23 years and ozai was firelord for 6 years then who was for the rest of the 71 years of the war, i mean sozin COULD'VE been for 10 years after the war started but if azulon was sozin's first born (like he was) then who took the thrown for the(about) 61 years of the war.
I agree fully with the Witch King here. Ozai was clearly the most powerful Firebender in the world. Just look at the moves he does, relative to what others do throughout the series. Also, I probably agree that he's the coolest character. The only lame thing was the ending they chose. I so hope he gets his powers back in some future re-up of the series....and Aang, if he wants to defeat him then, will have to ACTUALLY defeat him, not just do some lame "karmic bending drain" to beat him.
Yeah, I mean, for such a cool character with all those great powers, it is kind of pathetic that he's defeated that way. It would be cooler that after an awsome fight Aang actually gave Ozai a memorable death. I would have liked better also that Ozai gave Aang more trouble while he was in the Avatar State. It was also lame that the only thing Ozai did while Aang was in the Avatar State is running away and lunching some failed attacks.
It is true that Fire Lord Azulon was the most powerful firebender when he was younger, but I still think Ozai surpasses him. Just by seeing his lightning generation you can see how advanced his firebending is compared to all the other firebenders.

I think it was called the deserter, and Zhao and Jong Jong, their firebending was as strong as some of the firebenders with the comet, imagine how it would of been with the comet, not to mention iroh, hes a master too.

It's been stated that the three most powerful firebenders are Ozai, Iroh and Azula, and besides, Iroh himself states in Sozins Comet that Ozai may be more powerful than him. And Zhao isn't strong at all, he gets beaten by an inmature Zuko twice. Jeong Jeong is good, but not good enough. Besides, have you watched Ozai's lightining?? He creates it way too fast!

maybe, but it's hard to tell since there's not enough background given on him. Also, I imagine that his father was just as strong in his prime.

@WitchKingOfAngmar99 The problem is that he's not a particularly varied bender. I mean most of his attacks are just shooting flames everywhere.
