And if you want to use Firefox on Windows; be sure to show the "about:config" menu, your video card might be blacklisted by mozilla.

@lienucksfails2 ah it seems that my card is blacklisted (intel GM45) didn't think of that..however firefox in linux still puts up a pretty good fight vs ie9 in win7

linux im getting about 54 - 58 fps

win 7 ie9 i get around the same maybe slighty higher 55-60 avg?

set at 1000 x 500 with 250 (fish)

@miasmablk I knew it. Your hardware (Intel GM45) is blacklisted by default on Firefox on Windows, but there is an easy way to enable it, just follow this video:

Next

1) Disable Aero/Desktop Composition/and Effects on Windows 7

2) Run Firefox with 1000x500 @ 500 Fish

You'll see it being a lot faster than Lunix.

Disabling Aero on Windows improves Firefox's performance by 10+ FPS.

Windows: 33 FPS

Lunix: 22 FPS

( 33 - 22 ) / 22 = 50% => Windows is 50% faster than Lunix. Base of comparison is the denominator.

Another example:

Driver A driving at 100 mph

Driver B driving at 50 mph

(100 - 50) / 50 = 100% = 2x => Driver A is 100% (2x) faster than Driver B.

Well in terms of GPU it is no wonder why Windows will beat out linux as one has billions of dollars at its disposal and its not linux.

However I will contest that on certain hardware linux can outperform windows 7 but it all hangs on what hardware you run.

@lienucksfails2 what are you talking about im not suggesting it as a games machine but media wise its superior for FREE software plus ive never had problems with linux you just a windows fanboy who obviously runs his linux in a vm box rather than dual booting your comparing free software supported heavily to one heavily developed and hardly supported linux runs EVERYTHING and can even run on low end machines prefect windows always has problems no matter what the specs of the machine are
