Hi, just got a lionfish caught in the Atlantic (pest), how can I make him eat frozen food? Mollies are quite expensive around here, also, do I feed everyday or every other day? Thanks.
Hi could u help me please. I would love to keep lionfish they are beautiful, could I keep 2pm McKay in the same tank, I want to keep a black one and a white one. Can u please help me????
@alsh2010 We like all fish, for this particular fish there is no shortage of them, in the Caribbean they are invasive, and for other fish some are only found in aquariums, their natural environment having been destroyed by human activities. When people have an aquarium it makes them more aware of the environment, if the owner of a forestry or a mining company loves fish etc.. they are more likely to take more care with their waste products and not just dump them into the rivers or sea's.
beautiful fish! I would like to keep some one day :). just out of curiosity, can u keep one by itself? What kind of fishmates cud it stay with? Also whats the minimal tank size for a single lionfish?.
@Cyworldabcd Yes they can live by themselves, or with any fish that they cannot get into their mouth's. Minimum for a medium sized lionfish would be 50 gallon.
thats exactly what lion fish are doing in florida and the bahamas their destroying reefs and our native fish thats why we have to kill them as much as we can. Every where in dive shops and else where that has to do with fishing and the ocean have signs saying to kill them and what not.
@kick5425001 Hola Amigo mi nombre es Hortencia, yo soy la esposa de Carl.A que te referies con la pregunta?Lo que quieres ver es Wrasses? Saludos hasta luego.
@SeverumProductions Maybe Canada should lay claim to some area in the tropics, build a floating platform, moor it to the bottom of the ocean, and then start building from there, you could build as wide as you wanted, and keep adding to the structure, corals would grow, fish and critters would move in, it would be amazing, if it was made from concrete you could just keep adding more hollow concrete chambers on the top, and as the corals grew and it got heavier it would eventually hit bottom
@SeverumProductions Goldfish have an enzyme called thiamese, it takes thiamine out of the body, if you feed them exclusively goldfish they will have a vitamin deficiency, it is the same if you eat rabbit every meal, but rabbit as part of your diet is okay, The tank is mostly fed on shrimp, mussel meat, squid, clam etc... I buy the seafood mix at the grocery store, it is better for them, and cheaper. But for a video, this was fun.
@RebelThunder Yes, they are saltwater fish. We are going to do a series of video's on how to do a salt water and freshwater tanks. You might also look through our channel and watch Fresh to salt where we switch a freshwater tank to salt water.
thx alot for the fast answers i really apreciate it, sorry if my english isnt great its because im from costa rica, oh and is it ok to feed lionfish with frsh water fish?? i tought that they get blind after a while isnt that true??
@mannurko Your English is better than my Spanish, Hortencia has been trying to teach me Spanish. Feeding goldfish to lionfish or any other fish can cause problems with thiamine deficiency, we mostly feed the lionfish with shrimp we buy at the grocery store, being saltwater shrimp they have the right nutrients, the goldfish were fed for the video, it was more exciting than the shrimp would have been.
man i love this fix im going to buy one in all the aquariums where i have been say that this is one of the easiest salt fish to pet but you have to be careful too XD
i had one of those in my aquarium tank long ago, i bought him when he was 3cm, then after a while he grows enormously, he started eating other fishes, one time when i was cleaning the tank i got stung >.< then decided to get rid of the creature, though i liked it when it was small!
@OMGownerzZz10 It's like some ppl pet Tarantula or snakes, they're beautiful in your aquarium. Beside, i got stung by the red one, it only hurt for several hours, the black one is really the "toxic" one.
@Xxmike96slimxX The spines down the centre of their backs are, in one of the video's ( near the one's about the giant hermit crab) I show what it looks like after I was not paying attention, reached in, and got stabbed. It HURTS a lot, pretty much right away, so I held the finger under hot water and rubbed WD 40 into my finger to neutralize the poison, that helped a little bit, but my hand did not feel right for a few hours. I was more careful after that.

You shouldn't feed feeder goldfish to a lionfish. They're too fatty and make an unhealthy meal.

@BlueRealta They also contain an enzyme called thiamese, if you feed too much of them they cause a thiamine deficiency, this was just for the video.

bambishelley 3 months ago
@bambishelley It depends on the size of the lionfish, choose fish that have a diameter too large to fit into the lionfish's mouth.

@Fishyboy1998 They can live as many to the tank as you have room for, the bigger the tank, the more you can have, use a good filter for the waste.
