@globalgemo Well, I have to admit that I got pretty arrogant with that comment as I wasn't 100 percent done with my research yet. Emil is an extremely talented musician and I have much respect for him because of that. I retract that comment. Go over to the MetalSucks website and click on Eyal's column, under the first post of his at the top of your screen will be a comment written by "J" on 12/22/10 in response to another users comment on Eyal's post that should explain my position better.
@ProphetOdeth "WOW!!! Blue Collar Brawler Tour!!!??? Really Eyal!? I’d brawl with you anyday gipp chav!!" I'm not trying to be mean or rude but that doesn't really explain anything. I didn't read all the other comments because it seemed like a boring activity so I may have missed something. Also, I'm pretty sure Emil didn't go to Berklee.
@globalgemo He did. That is where Eyal recruited him. Eyal used to leech onto whatever act he could to further himself. In all honesty, as a guitarist, it's easy to spot when one has professional training. This man has it. I'm not saying its bad or wrong or anything, quite the opposite actually but just be true to who you are, don't try and pass yourself off as a "blue collar brawler" if you're more like an "aristocratic spoiled nancy".
@ProphetOdeth You should get your facts straight before wishing death on someone. I did NOT go to Berklee and I am not Jewish. I went to AIM in Atlanta and am as German as they come. (hence the last name.... ) You guys need a new hobby.
Anyways, I think most of the guys who are saying.. yeah jazz metal, omg the influence is so great blablabla .. you know.. c'mon.. it's true... if you play bebop (which is I think just polished gypsy jazz) you can incorporate that into your metal style of playing... but is this really the first time you heard this? I mean.. if you practice country and mix that into your blues you get a really great sound... but you already knew that.. right?
@ibanezzle i watched an interview on here and he said he uses 10's and/or 10.5's (i didnt even realise you could get 10.5's!!) and i think he tunes to Drop C, not sure about the pic tho, if i find out, ill let you know :)
If you mean, "where is the phrasing, tone, dynamics and vibrato" he has pretty much all of that. Why you would watch a video of someone warming up on YouTube and expect to see something like that I have no idea.
u all r wankers....... every artist is different see's music differently.. u have some who copy but emil had got this own twist 2 his music... im guessing one of his idols is marty friedman... @ eternal n Fat pig its not all abt speed... dont think in d box n listen 2 diff music dont stick 2 metalicca
Sounds like noise to me. I don't see the point really. Music (which this isn't) consists of more than just playing a bunch of notes really fast. The only people I see being impressed by this are children and people with no sense of what music should be about.
no, THIS isnt music, but cant people play something fast and show off some skills inn front of magazines and dvds when people asks them too? plus that metal music is also about playing notes fast. ONE of the things that characteristics metal is its speed.

This is a common thing said by a lot of people, but it's rather silly in my opinion. Three string sweeps ARE easier, but fitting six string sweeps in tonally while not boring the listener can be difficult. Not every sound needs the deep bass behind it either (Although this helps give a bubbley effect). Also, he doesnt just do 3 strings in here... haha
