  • That was great. I wish I hade been there.

  • tone tone tone tone tone work on tone

  • This is a huge clarinet choir!!!! Sounds good for a band camp performance.

  • Can someone please tell me what the name of this piece is and who composed it?

  • love how they are all INTUNE for gods sakes, my schools bands except wind ensamble(that Im in) cant ever play in tune. its annoying as crap

  • Well the amount of people you play with effects how the over all sound is. i bet if they had a lot less clarinets they probably wouldn't sound as in tune.

  • Actually the MORE you have, the HARDER it is to stay in tune. The numbers excuse has really gotten old. Fam has split it's band in half, split sections you name. Bottom line is...they ARE GOOD. This comes from being taught by the best, discipline and practice...not numbers. Remember, they started off SMALL. They became large by people wanting to sound like this....and joining the program.

  • Ok calm down, no one said they weren't good, i just commented on their numbers. and tuning is HARDER when there are smaller numbers, do some research or something because i know i am right in saying that.

  • Not worked up in the least, but being a music Major graduate & a master of multiple instruments, u r wrong. The more people u have 2 tune, the more concentration 4 the unit. Maybe, u're thinking that the added numbers will drown out the sound. It won't. Especially if they are all IN TUNE. Kinda like in the Military (I was in the Marines as well), everyone is @ attention & since there are so many men, u think u can scratch & the DI won't c u. NO! U stick out like a sore thumb. u research. I have.

  • Well, i had a talk with my director and she explained everything to me. It turns you were right and i still have learning to do. Its weird though, i always though it was the other way around. And MrDatpiff i think you were right too, i think i was comparing to other problems.

Well, sorry for my comment the other day.

hope there is no hard feelings.

  • Wow, I respect you so much for that. And there wasn't any hard feelings. I was just trying to help a fellow musician out. I think it's commendable that you care enough about your craft that you seek out answers. We need more like you.

  • Thank you.

I had made a mistake with that comment and needed to own up to the fact that i was wrong, so that's what i did.

your input was very important to me and taught something new, so i thank you for that.

We need more people like You.

  • Don't know WHY I'm just seeing this, but thanks. Keep playing and seeking perfection in Musicianship and stay humble. I agree with MrDatpiff, That was VERY Mature the way you handled that. Respect.

  • Look, Dcyple67 is actually right. While it's an old band myth that numbers hide, that's not accurate. Notes are frequencies. And when they don't match up and aren't different by certain intervals, they don't gel, and it's obvious. Over powering that makes it worse. I think you maybe comparing to HS bands were there are other problems like breath support and incorrect embouchure. These are normally overpowered by larger sections rather than being IN TUNE. Just my input. Keep playing!

  • Actually less clarinets exposes the sound more thus exposing the tuning and pitch relativity.

  • U might need 2 look @ this whole conversation. Not about 2go through this again. Even after the kid goes & talks 2 the band director u still want 2 argue this after 2 months. That may seem logical, but it is a myth. u can see some of FAMU's new videos & instantly tell that there's an off pitch & Fam is HUGE. LOL. The thing is, some people listen 4 volume & not pitch.(This is the case 4 SU fans, & no, that's not a dig at SU, Fine program). But 2 the Musical ear, it's THAT much more evident.

  • gotta love the clarinets. ide love to be in something like that. awesome experience.

  • Clarinets were FYE!!!. still ain't better than the Tubas lol jk.

  • woot for dem contrabasses :)... clarinets are beast!!!

  • this is just clarinets???

omg i'm so amazed cuz that's what i play

  • I play the clarinet myself! I want to go to band camp again! It was soooo fun!

  • That's the exact ensemble I have a dream about starting in my lifetime! What is that piece? I want to know.

  • We did pretty good for only a week a practice. Unno the C-Nets always rockin!!!
