Socrates was a Man in his 90s when he Met Dan Millman in real life, like us all he took the Final Journey, Dan Millman did break his leg due to a Motorcycle accident, and diffrent from the Movie Dan did not meet Socrates till After his accident.
@ndjgd thats a very intresting way to looking at it, thank you matafixer for for helping me see that differently. I personally see the dream as a warning that the way he leads his life wont bring him happiness and what he supports his life upon will fall away but someone will be there to help clear up the pieces you can also see it as him doubting the way he leads life as matafixer suggests. As for the landing i believe it doesnt matter what happened cause he loved doing it dispite where he was.
@ndjgd the way the rings that he lets go of in the end when jumps look like they clap for him.. for me, i see it as a successful landing, but really its the journey that matters not the "trophy"..
@mogromir if you recall when Dan went back to see Socrates there was a self-service sign showing that he no longer needed socrates and his answers could be found from within himself. There is also that part when they are in the bar and are talking about if Dan made up socrates in his mind showing we all have the ability to do what Dan did from inside ourselves. Purely my understanding of it of course. :)
if u read the book the journey of socrates u will rally is the gran father of him :D so he existed his name is sergei ivanov
