I went to Browning over this past summer to do community service work and live on an old ranch...it was amazing. some of the people that I met were incredible. I got to do the sweat and go to a powwow and even attend the Sundance feast. I really love and believe in their culture, but I'm also white. They made me wish that I was a Native.
my great grandmother was blackfeet indian. although i did not get a chance to know her, my mom tells me stories about her and she was an amazing woman. she also passed down her childhood stories to my mom which are very interesting. i am very proud to be part of her.
In our culture woman aren't suppose to hit or even sit that close to the drum. Women are powerful, therefor weakening the power of the drum. That's why most of the northern drum group's back-up singers stand in the back. Just throwing that out there.
My fathers fathers real name was "Warfield" where does this name come from, I thought we were "Blackfeet" but since my mother died from the own hands of her son , she has been sending me Native Crow and Sunflower messages, Are these natives mixed? Any help would be great!
b4 every flag song, honor song and any other ceremonial song that is being preformed the MC specifically asks that no1 is allowed 2 video or tape record the preceding ceremony. its pretty annoying that people still go ahead and record these things. it is also very disrespectful. fukkin idiots these days!!! stop showing our sacred ceremonies publically!!!
The performance In this video was not before flag song, honor song and other ceremonies, it was a great drumming and singing and great people. proud of Blackfoot culture, We learn a lot of them.
i my self am a powwow singer and i should kno what a ceremonial song sounds like and im pretty sure those are ceremonial songs. i wouldnt b saying these things if i didnt kno wtf i was talkin about. get ur info 2gether b4 attempting 2 make an argument wit sum1 who knos what they're talkin about! oh and quit postin these vids. its disrespecful
blackfoot or not, its disrespectful 2 b recording these songs when u r specifically told by da commitee 2 refrain from recording. idk how hard it is 2 understand this! i dont even kno y im arguin wit a bunch of urban indians! so ill jus stop now.
pnoon81. in ways it preserves the song so all others can hear the wonderful music and so it can not be forgottin and lost. plus it can make people want to learn more about it. and then ask their elders or others that know alot about it.
The more we know about the culture the more we will understand its people. That might help with the indians alcoholism, drug abuse, poverty and suicide rate. It is 2009.
u aint gunna learn much by watchin these sacred cerenomies on youtube buddy. ur best bet of learnin these things is by experiencing them in person and not by posting them on here.
Blackfoot are the people who sing with the heart of warriors and leaders. We made a good fight back in the day one day we will be reconized for our gretness and good deeds.
I am not even 1% Native American but I LOVE this music even though I don't understand one single word. It makes me feel good and I believe makes me a better person by liking and respecting this powerful type of music. God Bless the people of Montana. DR..Saint Paul,MN
